Default General ESC question

We all know that the normal voltage for a lipo cell is 3.7, and that they charge up to 4.2 volts. My questions is, does the ESC pass along the 4.2 volts/cell to the motor, or does the ESC limit the voltage to the motor to 3.7v/cell?

The motor would be gettng 8.4 volts until the capacity drop dropped the voltage down. Or you did something to limit current.

Im gonna say that since 7.4 volts is only nominal it can cause cause quite a bit of confusion on "will this work? It only says 7.4, but a battery is 8.4...etc.)

I think they should label it as a 8.4 volt battery, as technically, thats what a 2s really is.

(Im talking about 2s by the way)

Technically speaking in a perfect world yes the motor would be getting 8.4v. However in the real world the wire and solter has resistance as well as the plugs to the battery. The esc does have a resistance of some ttiny amount like .00003 or something ridiculous. So thats why you must use good solter and wire as well as solter them together well and eliminate as much wire that is not needed as possible. Also bullets to deans to the esc extra resistance. So the less wire (of a good quality) and the better solter used as well as the best soltering job and an esc with low resistance(some of the older models have higher resistance) will transfer the most power to your motor. That will then loose some of that power thru the bearings and rotational mass of the car. As well as loosing power to the tires slipping or being too stuck. Because this is not a perfeft world so generally you have to much traction or too little traction. Then im sure theres the drag from your body that the whole system has to push thru. Lots at play the point is the less resistance the better but dont stop there.
