What does I take to get a wiki link on the first page so we can post set-ups and other useful info without having to search the whole thread?

I tried to post this in the For Sale thread but I don't have enough posts to be able to. I won't keep littering up this thread with for sale pitches after this one so please bear with me one more time. I would just like this car to go to an experienced racer and familiar with the Exo 6

I will post pics tomorrow but I wanted to get this out there while I have a few minutes.

I have multiple Exo 6 chassis so I am going to part ways with my "Blue" one (but keep the Black edition!) So....Up for sale she goes!

I finished 2nd in the 2016 USVTA national points series with this chassis exactly as it sits. It is in very nice condition with very minimal scratches to the chassis. It has only run indoor carpet and I tend to run very clean so crashes are few and far between.
  • This car originally started life as a TB04 Pro and now is a roller and comes with the Exotek conversion (I do not have the original chassis)
  • Ewhippler carbon center shaft
  • aluminum pilot shaft
  • front spool
  • front diff
  • Lightweight outdrives
  • Front DCJ
  • rear ball diff
  • 418 style anti-roll bars and
  • 418 style front suspension arms
  • The rear suspension is an ARTS from VBC that bolts directly on the chassis nice and clean but I can remove and return to stock configuration if desired. I also have various blue Tamiya suspension mounts that I will include as well.
  • Few misc other parts that I will include (gears, etc)

Selling price is $250 plus shipping if anyone is interested. I won't keep pushing this car past this post. Thanks to everyone again.

Update to my plastic gears in the diff-
I found 1 of my diff gears were chewed up and my car was in 3wd literally 6 heats before my Amain was about to run last weekend!

Luckily I had a built up spare diff that I quickly swapped it out with.

So I got a solid 10 days of competitive running on the 1 set of gears with a 21.5 on asphalt so I would say replace the plastic gear set every 6 days as far as pre-emptive maintenance

After having issues with my diffs and the plastic gears, I would have to say that's good advice Mike. I rebuilt my diff for my 12.5/21.5 car with he metal gears and in order to get it to not be completely bound up, I had to add a second gasket. I think something is whrong with the diff case though. It was bound up(though not as bad) even with the palstic gears.

The diff in my TA07 is butter smooth from the get go, but these Evo diffs have been a fight from day one to get to work right. Hmmm maybe another Exotek upgrade opportunity???

Mike if you want some durability testing for your aluminum gearboxes, I would be happy regardless help. I hit the boards so often, you'd think I was durability testing them.

For the ring and pinion gears inside the gearbox, do you guys prefer the plastic ones or the carbon reinforced ones? I have been using the carbon reinforced ones, and they don't seem to last very long. This is with a 17.5 motor.

How long are they lasting before the carbons blow out for you?

I run 13.5T boosted with the carbon gears and managed to get through about 20-25 packs before I heard some dodgy noises from the gear box - was still OK to run but replaced anyways.

The shimming of the gearbox pinion and diff crown gear is quite critical - it needs to be close to maximise contact area between the gear for strength but also far enough to keep the drive chain smooth.

Shim the diff so it doesn't move side to side in the gear box. Shim the gearbox pinion I think it's 0.3mm off the bearing and adjust the shimming of diff left and right until just before you feel the drive chain start to have some binding in it - this is all whilst the gearboxes are assembled because the top half the gearbox affects this too.

I usually get 2-3 practice days (about 20 packs), and that is with stock shimming.

In the past the gears on my AE shaft cars never wear out or strip.

Correct.... My AE gears are still running strong since 2004 from 17.5t to mod... Only one set of AE gears stripped in my HV car, but that was due to improper shimming....

Just waiting on my Darside design decals to arrive and a free weekend so I can ruin this paint job. Hopefully I can make it around the track a few times before that happens.

Guys, please understand that your racing decisions will be based on what you can see your car doing on the track. You need to be able to easily see your car on the black tamarc: certain colors make it harder and will cost you at least 0.2seconds per lap...

Did you know the best time saving technique there is?

Just Block Bert.

I've already saved .9 seconds per thread by not being forced to read complete nonsense.

I'm looking to replace my TC5 , and trying to find the latest updated shaft car, and I think this is it. Currently we run 21.5 in the USGT. Is there anyone running this chassis for that race set-up?

Are you looking or buy one, or what a set-up for one is? I run one in USGT
