Pound for pound, a 1/12 pancake is quicker than any other on-road car. The current f1 cars, with their rubber tires, are possibly the "slowest" of any class. The crc zit and associated 12r are the most popular.

An F1 with foam tires (200mm) is pretty fast too.
You should try a F1 car with a 18T sensorless brushless motor from tamiya, then you'll see what i mean with being pretty fast.
Last year i was even faster then modified touring cars on a large indoor carpet track.
At our club we are faster (with the 18T motor) as 1/12 cars with a 10.5T motor in blinky mode, when they use boosted then they are a fraction faster then our F1 cars.
Allthough the 18T sensorless brushless motor doens't have a lot of Kv but the motor is too fast for most pilots cause it has tons of torque.
