Orion r10s are basically HW v3 hardware with some modified v2.1 software. I compared an r10 to a HW v2.1 with respect to boost/timing options and everything was exactly the same between the two.

Which off these ORCA esc that you mentions, should I look at first ?
Yes they are very easy to setup. You need the program box for them just like a lot of the other esc's (sold separately). The VXX is the latest version that will run all the mod motors. The VX1 will run 1s without a booster/rx pack. But it will also run 2s up to 8.5 motors I believe. So which one you want depends on what you want to do with it really. I believe the cost is the same.

IMO, get a second HW and a program box. Look into the v3.1 stock Spec.
Plus, you will have problems with installing the USB Link for both the HW and ORCA ESCs on the same computer...I did...

The Tekin Gen2's have come along way since the original lineup. The Gen1 RS and RS Pro were nearly 5 years old before the Gen2's were released. All the while being kept relevant and up to date with the latest offerings from the other manufacturers with free software updates.

The Gen2 lineup is all race ready out of the box with improved feel, better brakes, and enough adjustments without the need for a USB device or programming box to get 90% of drivers happy within a few minutes...

I hated setting up my Tekins RS Pros when I had them. Counting dots and not having the ability to change some things without hauling a laptop around sucked.

I don't know how easy the Gen2s are for setup, though.

Cool

I prefer a quick simple approach like the poking of a few buttons, with lights such as LRP & Tekin use

Having to connect a device, or pc for simple adjustments seems arduous

to each their own

Also don't forget that all the new Gen2 stuff can utilize Android Devices for connectivity for ALL of the adjustments that the Hotwire offers.

Have my eyes set on the new team orion Vortex R10.1, hasen't been released yet, but look very nice. Or the ORCA VRITRA VXX esc. Anyone who knows when the new orion R10 will be in the shops ?

Is there any bennifits to run the same brand of brushless motor as the esc, or does it not matter which brand you combining.

There are sometimes benefits to running the same electronics. I know with Hobbywing, it'll also record ESC/motor temps, rpms, etc...
