Rediculous!

The best way to discharge a dodgy battery is to put it in a strong salt water solution and leave it for a day or two, the battery will eventually puff as the voltage is pulled right down to almost zero, and 'hey presto', one discharged battery with no energy left in it all that can be safely recycled with other batteries.

As for stabbing them with a screwdriver etc.. WHY?

The 16v charge isn't an issue for a 3c - if you don't have + voltage over PEAK VOLTAGE you can't charge.

However, it had to be charged w/ something that isn't/wasn't a LIPO Charger w/ auto shutoff turned on.

The purpose of this video IMHO is to show the results of careless/neglectful charging. (Too often KIDS do this at home in their garage unsupervised) we've had TWO houses locally that had garage fires due to kids charging their r/c cars, and most likely having no clue what they were doing - just CHARGE and go watch TV for a while.

One of the two caused MAJOR damage to the house/garage, two cars and more.

1)ALWAYS CHARGE a LIPO Pack on a LIPO CHARGE SETTING

2) NEVER Charge and walk away

Things are headed towards a return of the SWT Series, but for
2017 the focus will be on the Encino Velodrome (and dirt oval racing)

That's not the important thing here.
When you are charging a battery the voltage slowly rises.

It says in the video the battery is 2200mah = 2.2 amps, he is charging at 6 amps for 30 minutes. That means he has put 3 amps into a 2.2 amp battery. Leaving an excess of 0.8 amps. This is why the battery catches fire.

Now, I hope this guy doesn't go home and try to squeeze his 6 foot wide car into a 4 foot wide parking space. Maybe then he could make a video for youtube, about how dangerous parking spaces are.

1. I don't own any venom batteries.
2. YMMV.

Key thing is to take adequate precautions, a house locally went up yesterday and it's been linked to a battery charging (apparantly a Lipo charging on the bed in the bedroom)

In the name of the Science I've punctured a 7.8v 5600 IP that was puffed using an arrow, please check picture. Smoke as small as lighting a match came out and some bobbles, nothing more. Then smashed it with a large rock, nothing. Now it feels flat.

ex·plo·sion: he sudden, loud, and violent release of energy that happens when something (such as a bomb) breaks apart in a way that sends parts flying outward

Apart from the stupid (and common) abuse, this is NOT an explosion... NIMH were exploding under certain circumstances, not LiPO.

..The IB4600 WC Cells were good for that, but was always a game of Roulette especially when charging on a Spintec ICC, if the battery vented or blew, bye bye $500 charger!
