What is the fastest an electric car can go? I know my friends goes 30 mph but do they ever reach 60 or higher?

60 is still within the realm of relity. The fastest electric car to date was I believe set by something that reached a top speed of 113MPH. It may have been broken by now but I am not sure. I am getting 30-35 out of several of my electric vehicle, and my Team mate is getting at least that out of his 13 turn RC10 Graphite. That's what you get when you take a car that weighs about 2 grams, and stuff a 13T in it!

I race against some HPI RS4MT's, and at my track, the only ones there are either modified's, or brushless, and they can push 40MPH with gearing.

I saw a video of a 59MPH Traxxas Rustler that was clocked with a GPS locater, but I can't remember where it was located. For some reason I retain useless knowledge in stupid fragments than come out randomly. Oh well!

It all depends on. What motors how many cells the gearing etc etc. I thought(I may be wrong) but I thought last year I read that a elec pan car with like a ton of cells topped out near 100. I will try find that article if I can. But just a normal car id say 30-45 would be reasonable.

Believe it or not...if electric TC with MOD rules, foam tires........running on the track along with nitro, they can be FASTER then nitro and 2-speed......may not be faster then nitro on the straight line, but on infield electric TC does run faster then nitro..............at least, our track and my lap times telling me my electric car runs faster then my nitro car even though I spend most of the time on nitro instead.

The fastest verified R/C car (electric or nitro) is Cliff Lett's AE L30, which hit a top speed of 111 MPH. His TC3 only managed 96 MPH. Here's a link:

http://www.rccaraction.com/rc/articles/need_speed.asp

And yes, electric kills Nitro in acceleration and if two-speed trannies were run like Nitros, electrics would kill a Nitro's top end.

BTW, RC Car Action will be hosting a "Fastest R/C Car" competition sometime after September 1st. It will certainly be interesting to see how fast the top car gets.

Electric is faster on an infeild course than nitro. The nitro bogs down, while the electric just rips around. Sure, straight line, nitro can own, but if you got a course with ONE straightaway and lots of twists and turns, the electric will give faster laps. Electric can be as fast as you want. It all depends on your motor, batteries, and gearing.

Electric is faster, and with the new 3600 3700 & 3800 mah batteries you can also have more run time.

This topic should become a sticky so we don't get any new ones....

Put in a 3 cell LiPo and a 6 turn brushless....
