So that's probably the best you can get for 100 dollars I guess. I'll probably get one of them eventually.

Would the futaba 4pls be worth saving for, or should I start with something cheaper?

I have a Flysky GT3C (silver) and love it. It has the built in safety. But there are some haters out there so you could pick up a Spectrum pretty reasonable. If you're not racing and don't have to have the best around, I would just get a Flysky. One thing I deeply love about the GT3C is it has a lipo. I grew seriously sick of feeding TX's batteries.

Stay away from the flysky radio's. Airtronics mx-v is a great deal from a top of the line manufacturer.

Can you give a reason why? Mine has been working fine for almost 7 months. It cost me all of $55 new.

The Flysky radio isn't bad when it works, but there seems to be a hit or miss on them on quality with some owners having issues while others do not. Buying a quality brand name radio is usually a good idea.

I agree. I know the orange ones have a problem with the power button on the steering wheel, breaking the wire off. That's why I chose silver. It seems the touch screen ones are having issues as well from reading through the dedicated thread here. In all honesty, he could get a Traxxas link 2.4 for $40-$60 on ebay or something. But there, I suggest avoiding the TQi ones, rather hit and miss as well, in my experience. In the end, it's probably whatever he can afford.

I was looking at the Spektrum dx2e because it is less expensive. Would it be good enough? Does anyone own this?

I guess my question is, would the airtronics be worth going the extra mile for?
