Monster with Red on Neg and Purple on Positive with 767's (use a fiddlestick)

Remember to break in brushes with same tension on each side and no fan.

Monster with either putnam green brushes or 767's and I rate my own springs I don't go by color, I go by tension, more accurate and consistent.

Default Sotck motor spring???

Hi all,

I am quite new to this hobby & would appreciate if someone can help answer my questions.
1) How do you guys define the spring used? by the angle?
2) Do yous guys normally put the stronger spring on the "+" / "-" side?

Thanks in advance for the help.

1) How do you guys define the spring used? by the angle?
Usually by color for most (Trinity Springs) e.g. Blue,Green, Red and Purple
Some use a Fiddle stick to determine spring tension and to better match whats going on a motor.

2) Do yous guys normally put the stronger spring on the "+" / "-" side?
Stronger is typically on the + side

Most go by color for Springs choices but if you do that you will need to stay with the same manufactor as they are all diffrent, which is why I rate my own with my integy spring checker,I use to use a fiddle stick but it was to inconsistent.

The stronger spring goes on the positive side of the motor. One thing that will be throwing people a loop now is the new batch of batteries require you to detune the motors a black art in itself.

I prefer the following:

Stock only for me... I just started in the sport in July if this year.

off road - Truck - P2K pro, purple all the way around, 767 brushes. Ream out the bushings, for greater RPM, with 3 sec and comm drops. Batteries: 2400, getting killed out of the corner, going to try 3000 this weekend. But I also have to gear 2 more on the pinion then others to get the heat up in the motor. With this setup, when I come off the track the motor is 120, with outside temp is 78. Yes I have one of the fastest trucks on the track, with a completely stock setup RTR truck. Running 20 on the pinion, others are running between 16 and 18, with the same motor.

On road - Monster, purple all the way around, 767 brushes, Ream out the bushings, same as above. SMC IB3600. To new to this to say if this works or not..

Remember our tracks are short

Could you please elaborate on the DETUNING as i think i`m having some issues with my Monster stock & 1.85v IB3800`s....running purple "+" & red "-" with slotted "F" brushes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Negative we're talking about stock motors here, you need to get the amp draw down, try taking abut .010 off the leading edge of the brush or try some less aggresive brushes with lighter springs.we're also talking about 4 cell oval here, just so you know.

I use the Reedy 769's (767 compound with hole drilled in the center of the brush face) on all my motors. It is enough to reduce the amp draw and work well with the IB3800's for some motors. But sometimes I have to sand/cut off the leading edge as well.

Springs:

+ Trinity purple springs measured around 255 to265 on the Integy Spring Dyno
- Trinity red springs measured around 235 to 245 on the Integy Spring Dyno
