Exclamation What's the difference between these two Trackstar motors?

These two motors are made by the same Trackstar company. Same color, but different can and endbell designs. One is rated to handle more voltage, the other only 7.4v. The first has less kV than the other. The first also a 290W motor vs. the second at 320W.

So can someone explain to me the benefits of having one over the other?

Specs:
CNC Machined Billet T6 Aluminum Motor Can
RPM/v: 3250kv
Max voltage: 7.4~11.1V (2~3S)
Max Current: 26A
Max Watts: 290w
Resistance: 0.0213ohm
No Load Current: 4A
$35

Specs:
RPM/v: 3730kv
Max voltage: 7.4 (2S)
Max Current: 45A
Max Watts: 320w
$33

Given the higher 320watt, higher max current at 45A and higher 3730 kV of the second motor, I'm inclined to think that it's "better" than the first. But the first seems to be the one built with a T6 can and can handle more voltage.

So can someone held shed some light?

Most people buying Trackstar motors are getting the second motor. Those are also the ones that are pending ROAR approval.

I have both in 13.5T. The first one will definitely fail roar as the winds are double n not triple as reqd by the rules.

The 2nd one performs much better too.

i had just bought and tested a 21.5 (all red motor) and found it to be quite fast in my f1. very impressed with a 40 dollar motor.

Good to know you have both... I'm not really interested if it's approved by ROAR since I spend most of my time in 17.5. But for "time trial" competition with a buddy of mine, I'm interested in the faster motor.

So since you've had both, you like the second one better? Why? If the first one has the "unfair advantage" and therefore not ROAR legal, I would have thought it would have been faster?

Not being legal doesn't mean its better or faster. It just doesn't meet regulations.

And I've just learned that ROAR has approved the 2nd one.. So hey... Awesome news
