Sprint 2 front motor Conv.

Ok, here goes. I purchased the Sprint 2 a couple months back. As most are already aware the steering slop is horrible. first mod was to swap to the RPM ball cups, it helped, but not much. I also did the other mods that Marv posted in his thread. it tightened it up, but not enough for my taste. Next I installed a Castle Sidewinder 3 with a 4600k motor, along with a Gens Ace 2S lipo. I also added a rear sway bar, but I'm still trying to figure out how to get the front one in with the front motor conversion. It took me all day, but i finally finished. I'm glad to say that my steering slop is almost completely gone! Before the swap the car felt really overpowered with the new ESC, motor, and 2S lipo, now it feels 10x's better. I still need to tie the wires up a little more, and get a stiffer, adjustable rod to go between the front spindles, but over all I'm satisfied the way it turned out. Btw, the stock servo really sucks. I'd like to send out a big thanks to Marv for all the great info he has in his thread, and to all the others that contributed their ideas.

Thanks for looking.
Sand

PS. I actually had a few pics, but I can't post the url's yet. lol

Also forgot to mention that I will need to get a smaller spur gear, it's a tad too tall for my set up. I ended up just trimming the beat up body I have for now for it to clear.

I'm still not sure how many posts I need in order to post URL's.

That's a pretty interesting setup you have for your steering setup. How do you like it so far?

ThePanda 02-23-2014 12:33 PM

yeah, it seems to work pretty well. I have to play around with the Ackerman a little bit more, as it is not where i would like it to be. It will be use for drifting though, so it won't be as big of an issue.

I ended up using a piece of all thread cut to length for mine, my local hobby shop didn't have what I was looking for. And once I get a better servo I'll probably flip it to get the arm closer to the steering servo. I've got a few decent pics, but it's still not letting me post them.

I also ditched the radio system that came with the kit, I hold the remote with my right hand, and steer with the left. My hand didn't fit the remote to well the way the steering knob hangs down.

maybe its just the picture, but it looks like you have a ton of rear toe In.

IamSand 02-23-2014 01:41 PM

Yeah, it's just a weird angle.

IamSand 02-23-2014 01:48 PM

What body are you using, I'm using a '68 Camaro body, but I had to notch the hood area because of the spur gear.
