Hi, are the HPI preprinted bodies for the 69 mustang and camaro up to VTA spec? I really like them and would like to get them for a couple of cars. If so do the holes fit other cars like tc4 and sakura? TIA -Wing

HPI made a VTA RTR kit a while back that came with a Camaro body, it was legal for VTA so I'm fairly positive the prepainted bodies are legal as well.

As for it fitting other touring cars, probably not with the current mounting holes. You'll most likely have to drill out new body mount holes for the other touring cars.

ok there is a preprinted green cuda body from hpi so I am assuming it is the same as the one listed?

I didn't know about the gunmetal mustang body. Just because it's not approved for USVTA competition doesn't mean it won't be allowed at your local track for club night racing.

I ran a Corvette body for a while at club level when I got into VTA racing. Now I run the '69 Camaro Z28 body.

If it's an HPI body then it is not a legal VTA body because the only legal cuda body is the one from Parma. Not sure what makes 1 body legal and another one illegal though.

I did some research, the preprinted might not be legal as it was for a nitro car. I wish they sold preprinted bodies. I'm terrible with paint. I've done it before and it never works out.

If you are decent at washing the shell, cutting along the lines, placing window masks in place, spraying the paint, and applying the decals, then you should end up with a respectable shell. There is no shame in driving a one color car. If however you are unable to do that, you can still find someone that can do it for you.

You can always find painted shells on eBay. Just search for the HPI part number for the shell and add the words custom and or painted. You will still have to punch holes for your body posts.
