I think the answer is no.

When I tried to use a Sanwa RX with a Futaba TX on 40megs, it wouldn't work properly.

Hi Ongbenghui,

I have the Super Exzess 40Mhz range and use a Futaba receiver and it works. Just use Sanwa crystals.
It also works with Novak XXL receiver.

Thats strange! I've been using a Futaba 3PJS TX with Sanwa RX211 at 40 Mhz for ages with no problems......I use Futaba crystals in both the RX and TX because someone told me that the Sanwa crystals were not compatiable......

Default RX/TX compatibility

I took a bet and bought a Futaba R123F receiver for my second hand Sanwa EXZES. Seems to works well with Sanwa crystal on both RX and TX.

You can use a Futaba reciever with a Airtronics/Sanwa Transmitter, but not vice versa. You also MUST use Airtronics/Sanwa crystals. Futaba crystals will not work with the combo.

almost all receivers are generic for any TX, but for crystal, you need to follow the TX made brand.

I made a discovery today...

Futaba crystals do NOT work in Hitec 40mhz radio gear.

Hitec receiver (single conversion) works with Futaba Tx (although 665 seemed glitchy, 775 was faultless)

Jeti (cheap) receiver also seems to work with futaba Tx, but is even glitchier on 665.

(Guess who's Futaba receiver died on a damp track...)
