Default trinity Kill Shot 17.5 vs Trinity D 3.5 17.5

What would be the "better motor" for 17.5 touring car?

I'm looking at the "maxzilla" version of both just not sure what the strong points of each motor are or if one motor does another thing better then the other

IMO i would get the killshot...because the d3.5 17.5..will not be legal sometime next year...(2014 cant remember the month)...sayn it will be useless ...unless y'all dont go by roar rules

After a meeting between ROAR President, Steve Mruk, and Trinity Corporation CEO, Ernest Provetti, the two came to an agreement which will once again put the D3.5 17.5 motor on the ROAR Approved Motors List until the first quarter of 2014. At that time Trinity will be releasing the D4 series motors (which will be required to undergo the ROAR approval process), and the D3.5 will be removed from the approved motor list.

so i wouldnt get the d3.5

I've destroyed 2x killshots trying to replicate the pace I get out of my d3.5 motors which are over a season old now. Don't bother with the killshot. Look at the Orion VST2 if you want a quick 17.5 motor!

so after some research my local track will be banning the D3.5 so I guess that checks it off the list

How did you have the killshots set up?

1st motor was rpm with ht rotor which I ran blinky with 50 degrees on can as set by tag at express and run with the recommended 3.9 ratio. 4th run it Burned at 3 minutes 65c on the can.

2nd motor was rpm stator with same ht rotor running boosted with 30 degrees on the can and same setting I've run most other motors at with a fdr of 6.0. Also fried at 3 minutes around 70c on the can.

Its alot of ppl running the killshot with no issues in blinky..dont know the versions if it HT or RPM..I do know they are fast with it & they gear them around 4.0-4.2 on 96 x 50 carpet track

I like the killshot better. I ran the torque stator and torque rotor last week at tamiya and I was pulling some people down the straight. I was geared at 92-49 for a fdr of 3.66 with a fan motor came off at 126*

The fact that the D3.5 will be banned once again next year will keep me from buying another. It is a fast motor once you get it broke in.

The Killshots around my neck of the woods have been ballistic.
You can't set them up like a D3.5, (i.e. rpm stator with high torque rotor) or they tend to blow. Rpm stator with broadband rotor is good, torque stator with torque rotor is good.
