Got one, but haven't tried it yet. As far as Freebird. It takes a different driving style. You have to really be smooth. The stock carpet setup works really well. We have been running them at The Gate pretty much with the stock set up. The diff is critical and should be just locked up. Other than that just keep running the car and get used to it.

I replaced the roll shock with a Damper tube simply because it is much easier to change the weight of tube grease than it is to change shock oil. Right now I have 20K grease in the tube but I can easily change it to 25K or 30K grease if the rear tires lift on corner exit.

Can you tell what rating of grease/oil is roughly equivalent to the kit oil in a side shock?

I just used the Tamiya Roll Damper from my old F104X1. It is Tamiya 54413.



The 20K Tube Lube feels closest to the kit oil in a Xray side shock.

I see a lot of people changing to damper tubes. Are these better than the oil filled roll damper?

more consistent and easyier to maintain. You gain a lot of time doing setup with tubes

Gavin, I use one on my F113 when I race at Castle Hill. As others have stated, it's easier to change the oil/grease with the tube, than it is with the shock.
That being said, I'm going to try the shock on my Xray when I build it to see if I can get similar dampening properties.

Hopefully yes, as I'm wanting to get it built before the NSW state titles, and will try to get start on it this weekend.
Will still bring the trusty old F113 though as I know that car works there.

Just mounted a set of TCS tires on Exotek rims. I really like the Exoteks as they are much easier to mount up. Has anybody tried to balance their tires yet? If so what did you use? The rears would be no problem, but how about the fronts?

I got a chance to briefly run my X1 last week. I'm heading back to the track Sat. Last week I had an issue with the car traction rolling at the end of the straight away going into the sweeper. I'm running the kit setup, any suggestions where I can start to correct the traction rolling. New to F1.

Did you glue the sidewalls? Also reduce your camber to 1.5 or 1.0
