Thanks, just wanted to make sure before switching out esc or if anyone else is in same boat, now they know

I talked to the folks at HWNA, and the word is the V3.1-1S was submitted (again? who knows) a couple of days ago so depending on how long it takes to go through approval it may make it onto the list by MHIC.

Sorry to have to ask this, for approved ESC's will you be checking firmware versions? I'm specifically talking about the Hackers' since a racing friend of mine said that he downloaded the latest and found that he still had boost options even while in blinky mode. This is second hand information but from what I've seen on the track I am not doubting what he is saying.

That's very unfortunate if true. You'd think people would have learned from ORCA after ROAR gave them the death penalty.

Those Hackers work with the HW programming boxes, right? We don't plan to get super aggressive with tech, but between the locals there's enough boxes and gizmos to check firmware on pretty much any ESC. If we suspect someone is cheating, we'll absolutely look more carefully.

I bet the hacker while in blinky ignores all other settings. The orca is this way too. If it says blinky that is what it is even if it shows turbo timing. It blocks out those inputs.

Btw all orca speedos and 3.3 sw are now on the roar list.

Also the orca death penalty was for running unapproved software. Not that it had timing in it but just not approved for that race and told not to run but made a mistake and ran it. Funny how one got the death penalty but others never even got reprimanded.

In the car with Rossi now trying to talk him into coming for the race!

This is true. A buddy and myself were trying to figure this very pecuilar issue out last Saturday with his speedo. Although the mode was set to Blinky, boost options were still available and the speedo would not blink at ya. Seems more of a mistake than a deliberate action to cheat.

Rossi should come home and race! We haven't seen him at 5280 since like 2010 MHIC!

The ESC firmware situation is comical when you consider that I can put any firmware at any time on my Black Diamond even if it's released tomorrow and it will be legal the way the rules work currently.

At least the BD's have never had issue's with dodgy firmware, well, so far at least.
