Dye-ing Wheels?
I'm currently working on building up a rally car from a TC3 and want it to look similarly to the WRC Subaru WRX.
The AE Conversion Kit for the TC3 comes with some white wheels that have a perfect pattern for the replica. However, I wanted to know if Rit Dye was good for this, since I can't find any 26MM Gold Wheels. Unless there's another alternative, which is painting the wheels gold. But this car is going to take some serious thrashing, so I don't want to go that route. Any suggestions will be great. TIA  |
rit dye works well but has a dull finish when done. My best friend dyed some white wheels black and they are black, but dull.

Rit Dye should work on nylon wheels. Otherwise check out Tamiya, they make some golden wheels for a 2004 WRC Subaru WRX, they come in one of their TT-01 kits but i'm pretty sure you can buy them seperatly. Maybe check out Rainbowten.

Yeah, I don't really want a "chrome" look. Flat is excellent.
I believe the Tamiya ones are 24MM, or else I would've purchased them already  . |
Just so you know when you dye the wheels it will soften them up quite a bit.
