5) lighter shock oil.

I fought with this condition for quite some time and found that droop was my biggest problem towards getting it to turn in consistently. Like you, I had to be very gentle with the throttle.
Are you using a longer shock end to get more droop?

I just unscrew the ball cup a turn or two. That will give you enough droop. It's a good idea to measure the overall length of the shock and make note each time you adjust its length. It's simple to do on the fly during practice. Unscrew the ball cup 1/2 turn each time and see how it affects steering response.

Looking for a little help with a baseline setup for regular CRC carpet running 571/572 tires and 21.5 motor. I am new to F1 but not new to R/C so I'm just looking for something to get me in the ballpark to begin with.

the kit setup should be very close. i would widen out the car to 190mm all the way around.

Ditto what Mario said - the kit WTF-1 set up spaced out to 190mm is exactly what I've run. Aim for 4mm ride height, additive full rears and start with 3/4 fronts.

I have a set up sheet I can scan and post if that helps?

I'd also recommend using a one part shell like the CRC or Protoform shells, and if you can find one the Tamiya F60 front wing.

Enjoy racing your WTF-1,
Mark

Thanks for the setup tips. Looking forward to giving F1 a try.
If you have a setup sheet that would be great.y car is coming off the used market so I have no idea what setup will be on it. I plan on a full rebuild and polish anyway so I might as well start with a fresh setup.

Ordered my upgrade kit.
I am very competitive against our local Xray cars currently, but to be there I have to be completely at the limit. Most nights the car is better then I am. I am hoping the upgrade will maintain/improve my current speed while making the car a smidge more comfortable to drive. I will report back.

Other than putting the battery in the transverse position, either all the way back or slightly forward, nothing has changed.

The new car is amazing. Planted all the way around. I run the kit springs except for the center which is a CRC black. I have the battery transverse and about a half inch forward from full back. The main thing I notice is that the inside rear tire stays planted on corner exit even when you push the car hard. It is easier to be consistent thru the entire run.
Two weeks with it at The Gate and I have TQ'd and won both weeks.

My first run with the updated car was mediocre at best. I ended up running a gold center spring. I didn't have as much on power steering as I would have liked.

I'm going to move my esc forward a smidge a try running the battery one notch farther forward.

My basic setup is kit front springs with about .5mm droop. Kit side springs touching, no preload.
I run the pod about .5mm slanted forward with about 2mm total up travel from there.
Ride height is 5mm front/back, 4.5mm in the center.
25.5 motor. 30% drag break. TCS tires. Xray front/rear wings.
New CRC mega-traction carpet.

Any ideas on where I could be better?

Reduce the rear droop and increase the front.
