Spin out problem
 

I have a TC4 with a 4600kv castle system and for some reason when I get almost to top speed it spins out. I can never get it full throttle. I have a steel ball diff in the rear with the factory spool in the front. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do to fix this problem?

By "spin out" do mean spins out of control as in no longer goes in straight line, or by spin out do you mean it spins the wheels as if its being overpowered and you lose traction, but can still steer somewhat?
I'm assuming this is running a Castle ESC as well. If so, use the Castle Link program to tune your throttle curve and power band parameters.

Spin out as in I have no control. I have total control over the car until I get almost full throttle then it just spins out. I have ran it on several different surfaces with the same result. I have even went as far as using traction compound with no luck. Could the motor i am running be to much power once I get it to full throttle?

Is this the castle green can motors?(forgot the motor series as I had the 1410) I've seen similar issues with a guy using that same motor but the 5600kv version. Its just too much and unless you turn punch control on all the way it still has tons of torque. Might be able to go full throttle if you turn the travel on radio down some so its so violent at wide open throttle?

What tires you using?
Does the rear come out like a torque steer

I am using thunder tiger tires, I ease into it to its not like i just punch it to full throttle. Its like the front end loses grip and i spin out I dont think the rear end is breaking loose I think its the front that is doing it.

Tires make a huge difference. I assume you are running rubber tires and I have found that the Sorex brand have the best grip. Indoors on carpet I use 24R or 28R and on asphalt I use 28R or 32R.

Are you using a 2S or 3S lipo. Maybe the motor is too powerful causing issues.

I have talked to castle about it and they told me that the 4600 is perfect for a 4wd touring car. I even mentioned the spinning out and they told me it was my driving conditions. I dont know I would like to see how fast it is but i can't even get past 3/4 throttle. and i hear people running 7700 and not having a problem. Could my ball diff be to tight?

What kind of body are you using. Might not have enough downforce to keep the wheels intact with the surface.

Not trying to be mean, but is the rear tow set correctly?

Running a Subaru WRX Sti body and running 0 camber and can't adjust toe in.

Most likely tires and motor, motor over powering the tires.

Last week during practice there were 3 apex cars tc4 pretty much with sensorless 3800kv motors with the kit tires. They were a bit loose and for some odd reason towards the end of straight the car would turn sideways. Then they tried 3s and problably did a few 360 at the end. With 2s it might not be as bad as your higher kv with 2s but once they went higher voltage it really showed. Their tires ended up coming apart and ripped.

If you don't want to spend too much money on slicks the hpi xpatterns unbelted pro compound have really good grip and last a while. I've raced with those tires for 2 years on 140*+ asphal in summer.

It really sounds like like its just too much power and you're losing traction because of it.
I would highly...highly recommend the Castle Link program for ANYONE running Castle Creations equipment. It's invaluable.
I'd start by getting some better (stickier) tires and using Castle Link to tune your power and and throttle curve. Drop off power a bit from 75-100% throttle and go from there. Adjusting punch control probably won't help much if you're spinning out at high speed and not from a dead stop or low speed, but it's worth a shot. I'd recommend a little punch control regardless as it makes acceleration smoother.

What is the toe in of the rear. Check the tension of the Ball Diff, maybe too loose. If your Front are Spool I wouldn't think is your problem. By hand turn the right rear tire, does the opposite tire(left rear) turn the opposite direction, Rear diff maybe adjusted too loose.

Get new stickier belted tires. That motor should be fine. The tires are probably ballooning to much which causes the car to spin.

What is odd is that you are only experiencing it at top speed and while going straight. What happens when you try to use full throttle at lower speeds ? Cornering ok ?
