Are we going to be able to get the body to fit a Tamiya F104v2. Or is it possible to use the Tamiya rear end and use the speed passion front end?

Good question........

F104 series will fit the LM-1 tires perfectly...however, the whole front end does not. So...you will need the whole front end, the chassis in order to get the width to fit nicely...but then, the chassis does not fit the F104 rear motor pod and motor mount at all...........

If you are going to spend about $150 of parts and just use the F104V2 rear gear box, you might as well buy the whole kits for less then $200....that include the whole kit, body and a set of foam tires.

It will need alot of parts to convert a F103 F104 to fit this body....at the end, I don't think there are that much parts left on the car is from F104.

Using the F103 front end would get the correct front width, the F103 lower wishbone even includes a pair of holes that are ideal for attaching pody posts for bodyshells.

@Solara

That is a beautiful car. The paint options on that car are endless. I give you guys props for a great idea.

Thank you for posting the information about the F104 conversion. I've looked at the body a few times and keep wondering if it would mount/fit and what would need to be adjusted for width. Unfortunately, it feels like you just shot holes in kite.

The idea is....it would work if you can gather the right parts, some modification and test fit, here and that....if our LM1 kits is retail $250-300 alone, yes, absolutely, you should try to use the F104 and fit the body on top...

However, we are talking about less then $200 for this LM1, LMA and a set of foam tires. After you deduct the cost of body, the set of foam tires (which everyone must use per the F1 rule)...you are talking about around $110 for the LM-1 chassis...

One other problem is...the front mounting area for the body...using F1 car chassis does not have enough area to mount the front body post.

I have tried the F103GT chassis...the problem is, that chassis is like 20-30mm shorter then F1 chassis because it is designed to mount a TC body.

I will try to fit a F104 with foam tires and the LeMan body and post it here and show the different...

Hey Solara thanks for your reply and explanation. I do appreciate it. Recently I've been trying get some of the older F103 Le Mans bodies to fit on the F104, with little success. I've even tried the older C11 body. The problem is the length of the new F1 cars, the older bodies just come up short.

I'm still hoping your Le Mans body will work out, I just need to get my hands on one for test fitting.

Regarding the front mounting area, I think the original F103LM front bumper would work. It was used originally on the Audi, Porsche, and Toyota.

I also agree with regards to the F103GT, it's to short. However the front axles, and rear hubs do which would allow for rubber tires, sedan, but rubber tires. Like the Courage car. I'm just not 100% sure how it would look with your LM body.

I realize it would be easier to just purchase the SP LM-1, but projects can be fun too. And to be honest I have a few spare parts I'd like use. Do you know when the body set will be available separately?

Thank you again for your time.

I think these along with the WGT cars would make for a pretty awesome USCR type series at the RC level.

17.5 2S for WGT
13.5 2S for LM1 (or LMP whichever they call it)

Maybe for carpet, but here we Run outdoors parking lot so I doubt we will be able to put power down. We have trouble with 21.5 in f1 in winter days once its foggy overcast might as well don't even run

Solara, is the pre order kit called lm-a and the pro kit lm-1? Keep seeing those two names so I wasn't sure

At our last parking lot race, I tried WGT 17.5 1s with pink rears, and I could still break the tires loose!

I think 21.5 would be ideal for us or even tamiya brush motors. Otherwise it would turn into tokyo drift!!!

Fair enough...I think itd make a nice spec series though with whatever motor is wrought for WGT and for the LM1, whether 13.5/17.5, 17.5/21.5, 21.5/25.5, 17.5/25.5 or whatever combination it may be.
