As promised, more LM1's finished from deep within the dungeon of the Skunkworks. The first is the Mazda Skyactiv LMP1 car that I painted for a forum member. The second is the 2014 Audi R18 e-tron which is my ride. I cut the vinyl for these cars, and other than the factory decals, everything is done inside of the shells. A lot of work, but I think it payed off. The Audi was a bit of a challenge, as it basically required doing two paint jobs on one car. The first to set the proper graphic colors, and the second (outer matte finish) requiring me to re-apply a second set of decals to the outside to mask for the matte overlay. I also built the Led lights out of some scrap wire I had laying around .

A VERY special note on the Audi... Forum member CELT from the MARCCA Club out of Madison, WI is so into growing this class that when he heard the Oshkosh boys were trying to get a group going, he pulled the trigger and supplied me with a kit AND the Electronics so that I could run it in support of the LM1 class. CELT, Class act man, class act! . I have to vote him R/C Tech Hobbyist of the Year!

See you MARCCA boys next weekend for the carpet challenge, and Stan, I'll have that body painted for ya man.

It took a bit of patience. The actual Skyactiv font was a mix of two different ones, so I started with piecing the proper letters together. I then sized, reverse cut the lettering on my vinyl cutter and applied them at the appropriate angles. Shot it with Tamiya Metallic Red, Backed with Silver, pealed the individual letters off of the interior, shot with White, then final backed with black.

Every thing on the car other than the factory decals is done inside of the body. The only thing that I put outside is the number decals, which I did with reflective white and red.

If anybody is interested, I'd be happy to try and hook you up with what you need to make it.

Im looking at either an Action Express multicolor with American flag sharkfin or a reboot of the old Panoz LMP American flag paint scheme from the ALMS days with a red and white stripe sharkfin

Stunning Perry, all I can say. I didn't realize until I saw them in person, how much painting the wheelset finishes off the package.

Man I wish I had that talent, don't see how you do them so fast.

Full heat of 7 with a F10 conversion ran today at the Hurricane All-Star Race. What a blast.

I ran the setup that you showed me when I visited you and picked up that chrome paint in mid Dec. Car had a ton of traction w/o tire treatment. Perhaps way too much. Had a bit of an on power push and a TON of over-steer off throttle. Of course it was a first run for it, so some setup work will be needed. The Oshkosh track has a super amount of grip right now. I'm hoping that it'll settle right in next weekend at Marcca, but we'll see.

I'll see if I have time to take some video of it. So far it has been a lot of fun. I have been running my car for about 5 weekends now and my ride height is still 5mm in the back and 6mm in the front.

For me the back is wearing a little faster than the front. Next time I will buy two sets of rear for one set of the front and rotate the rear tires. This should allow me to make the same ride height change front and back.

Don't be afraid of these foam tires. I use to do 12th scale and these are nothing like that.
