I don't know if I've ever seen a single car cause such a stir in the RC on-road world, this is great as there are a lot of clubs looking to draw new interest in their on-road programs.

That being said, I just cant be bothered until there are rubber tires available for this thing. Its gonna be a stretch for a tire company to invest R&D into a single-make tire and wheel.

Remember, no one gave a crap about RC F1 until good rubber tires became available. Only rubber tires can truly show a cars handling characteristics. People will remember why foam TC and 1/12th scale is dead after a while running on foam tires. I'm sorry for this observation and will undoubtable be flamed for it, but you can make a Nikko from walmart handle well on foam tires.

I am also concerned that this class will cannibalize the F1 classes in clubs. Hopefully thats not the case. I do hope this class grows and matures into a great class like F1 has in a lot of clubs.

It would certainly be easier to just keep them in their own classes. The thing about real LeMans racing is that there could be 50 cars on the track at the same time. We are really limited to about 10.

I'd be guilty of that. I bought an FGX simply because F1 was the up and coming fun series here. Lots of people bought that car since they were cheap and many races were in a parking lot. I always wished LeMans style cars would get popular. I'd ditch F1 entirely for it and forget it ever happened.

We are planning an event for late/spring early summer at Leisure Hours for a 4or 5 hour enduro running LM1's and USGT cars on the same track at the same time
3 or 4 man team, one car with battery, tire changes and maybe even motor changes

That sounds like it is perfect for those cars. LM1's on foam might not be as fun as the rubber tire USGT but I'm jealous! I'd like to do something like that.

We are not locked into Leisure Hours, it could be run at Toledo
I think Traut Racing needs to field a team

I'm in. All cars must have lights and we race into the night. Then leave one hour for the next morning. Start the race right at sun rise. The track and tires will be cold and interesting things can happen. Each team must marshal their own car.

This next one is off the chart but let's try it anyway. Each car must carry a small balloon filled with water to simulate the radiator and gas tank. Each car will also carry a hard boiled egg to simulate the driver.

Ok...no eggs on my LM, hard boiled or otherwise.

How about a small live mouse as a passenger while we're at it? We don't need any of that stuff. Lights and night time racing would be cool though.

If there was an enduro there would definitely be a team Traut. We already field 4 F1 each race we attend and 2 USGT now.

I did run with a couple USGT cars. The closing speed of the LM with 21.5 is considerably faster, the infield speed is comparable, imo.

We put a spider in the payload bay of an Estes rocket when we were kids. The results were.....messy.

I think you could do something like that for the enduro like BP Shadow posted. I had an idea for a weekend of nothing but enduros with the highlight being a 24 hour race to cap a weekend of awesome RC racing. What you could do is have a 4 hour enduro for the LMP/LMPC classes, a 4 hour enduro for WGT, a 4 hour enduro for USGT and then have the capstone of the weekend be a 2.4 hour with all three classes (LMP, WGT and USGT) 20 car field max.
