Default Carisma Battery Packs

Hi, my son has just started and has a Carisma M14 Subaru.
It came with a 7.2 NiCd rechargeable battery pack and a 7.2v quick charger. can anyone tell me what the charge time is for this battery with this charger? i cant seem to find out anywhere and there were no instructions in the box.
Also have been given another battery pack, a 7.2 700mAh NiMH, i know its compatible with the charger but again, does anyone have any idea on charge times? also are they meant to get so hot when on charge? the charger and both batteries are made by Carisma.
Thanks, from a not so clued up mum!!!

On the charger there should be a light, red means its charging, green means its charged. Time, antwhere between 30mins and 4 hours, depends on the charger.

Thanks for the reply. Will keep an eye out for the light changing colour, i've had one on charge for 2 and a half hours so far and the light is still red (the battery wasnt flat though)
