Default Battery Charging

Hi Guys,

So... what's the best way to charge my 3300mah and 3700mah batteries?

I'm currently using a Novak Melienium charger.

Current is 4amps
volt threahold is 13mv

I used to use Fan's but I've heard this is not necessary.

Also, I discharge the cells down to 5.4v and store them, is this OK? I've heard that folks discharge their cells, then charge them with about 1000mah, then when they next use them, they discharge them and charge them.

Thoughts??

It depends on the charge rate. At .05 amps- probably nothing. You could probably chart at .05 continously for ages.

However at 5 amps, it should only take about 23 minutes to fully charge.

If you over charge the cells, you will first notice they get hot. THen you might hear a sizzling sounds. Then if your lucky you will notice something ooozing from the cells. If your not lucky, it will blow up, like KABOOM!!!!!

I charge at 5.0amps for 19t or mod, and 7amps for stock. You'll lose run time at 7amps, but gain voltage. Do not charge with a fan on them. The fan will make it cooler and could make the batteries false peak. I also charge at 6 delta peak cut-off per cell, but that depends on the charger too. Also, it depends on what yourr batteries stared out at. I start out at .9 cut off discharge, but if it's an important Onroad race, I'll charge from a deadshort and watch the first couple of minutes in case of a false peak. Lastly, sometimes I'll peak by temperature, which is the best for the cells. I set it at 45c cut off.

I have changed the way I charge since the Much More Battery Heatsinks...

Now since the heatsinks spread the heat out over the intire pack I get a much lower temp so now that allows me to [email protected] 8Amps with the temp only getting to 45*C and that is the sweet temp for charging IMHO. I get much more punch and I have no problems with run time...But then again this is for 27 or 19T. But hey do what you like to your packs...But mine last just fine...
Oh yea I tray my packs over night on a discharge tray then right to the charger.
