what's the internal gear ratio for this car? I've read you can have 2.0 or 1.9 depending on what belt gears you run. which ones go with which ratio?

Don't own a HoBao but it's easy to calculate. It's: diff (or spool) pulley divided by layshaft pulley. For instance in my Photon the IDR equals (40T / 20T) = 2.

1.9 is factory internal ratio. 2.0 is withvthe optional pulleys

I still have my 2nd gen shafts on the car, still working on the gen 3's. The cnc part is not that much heavier than the stock knuckles. But in stock are the newer beefier knuckles in plastic. I have not broken one of the knuckles I just wanted the bling, we also have the 22306 cnc c-hub but I was told not to run both together it's an either or thing, "BUT I MIGHT", We also have complete diff kits 22299. More options I just found are

Hey guys I'm geared 3.88 using 45/92. I need more torque, do I go up (3.88<), down (<3.88) or use a different 3.88 like 50/100? Been hearing and reading different things.

Assuming 17.5 blinky on carpet. Might could go a bit taller and try a 47t pinion. Some of my 17.5s like more gear than that. Popular opinion states that torque will decrease with increase in timing. I find that the power increases through the entire band with an increase in timing up to a point. Gotta watch temps carefully. A good fan is required. IMO
