For me , these 4.5t to 13.5t boosted are way too weak... I need 3.5t boosted or 2.5t boosted to be satisfied, even if I need to be supersmooth to make runtime...

Wow, great videos you posted. You can really feel the difference when you can see it and hear it from inside the car. The mod 4-turn car just feels, WOW.. This definately gives me something to think about!

I am definately considering the Hobbywing Xtreme Stock with a Speed Passion 10.5 or 9.5 competition v3. Seems like a very nice powered combo for around the $100 mark.
If your looking for something fast/boosted on 2s and race legal, the hw extreme with a speed passion v3 motor is perfect.

I am getting 45mph boosted. It makes a huge difference in speed and feel. With the same gearing but no boost, It hits only 30mph.

Keep in mind I'm undergeared as I use this for long races (25 minutes long). If I do sprint races, I can gear it up alot. Then I will expect 40mph 13.5t blinky and 55mph 13.5t boost

The hobbywing xtreme stock can run a 8.5t motor with boost/timing btw, anyone know if it will be competitive in mod though?

Ok, so now that I'm tossing around some ideas.

If I picked up the Hobbywing Xerun 120a SD V2.1 for right around $100, this should enable me to run any turn motor I choose in the future.

I've already decided on the Speed Passion competition V3 motor... but...

Is there any reason I shouldn't get the 3.5 turn? Remember, this car is just for fun, and I will be building a second one, exactly the same for my RC buddy (my retired dad).

I guess like everything, faster is usually more fun, and investing a little more in a more powerful ESC, seems like a good investment, as low turn motors are the same price as stock turn motors anyways.

its up to you how fast you want the car,the only thing that i will add is with higher speeds comes more damage,so if you a good driver go for fast if your a beginer then start off slow, with a low wind motor heat shouldnt be a problem, with 13.5 and boost motors get hot,it also depends on what surface your on as to grip levels,if its low a 3.5t will be a handfull

i have a 5.5t motor i like to occasionally play around with and compared to
13.5t boosted its almost twice the power, also more power brings faster wear

3.5 is A LOT of motor

Unless you have a completely flat, 100yd field to bring your car to, you'll never even get close to achieving top speed with that 3.5

Were you using boost on the 5.5t?

I used my radar at my track some time ago.
113 kmh / 70mph modified (4.0 boost).
69 kmh / 43mph Stock (17.5 boost).

with all motors 3.5 - 4.5 I can get them going fast they will just have different amounts of boost. On a HW V3 it was about 30deg boost for the 3.5 and 45deg for a 5.5. If i was trying to get huge amounts of speed only, Id use a LRP 4.0 at 40-50 boost but the battery will get punished a bit if you try racing like that. short burst runs might be OK. I didnt clock my car at those settings but it was faster than 113 im sure.

Low turn motors like 2.5-5.5 will need a high gear ratios which means it'll have a strong drag brake feel. Yes it's fast but the coasting feel is unnatural that's why I stuck with 13.5-10.5 boosted or not.

Just my opinion.

So recently we've had a speed gun at the middle/end part of our straight to measure our end speeds. We've got a 90ish foot straight. The fastest mod car was going about 45mph and the fastest stock car was going about 28mph.
