hi, I already tried my best to shim as properly as I can and uses AW Tamiya grease on the mitre gears. They still strip running hobbywing justock and 8.5T motor with all stock gearing and ratios. I don't race just bash on kinda rough carparks.

I plan to buy just the normal cvd, with all suspension mounts in stock (upgraded to aluminium some Tamiya some Yeah racing). should I get 44mm cvd or 46mm cvd for the front only.

one replied 46mm. I saw tb-03 states 44mm (via google). but see no answer for tb-04. GPM CVD don't tell the length. I worried I buy cannot use.

Uhm, ok, so we're not comparing apples to apples here. I'm looking at 25.5T racing on smooth, grippy carpet. I have a feeling the gears will hold up much better in those conditions

does your ESC have reverse? do you mash on the brakes after hitting top speed? if you do, that's probably the reason you keep stripping gears

44mm would be my suggestion.

No problem!

Buy two sets of 51255 evo5 ring gears with 39 teeth. It lowers the FDR (which your going to need for VTA) and bolts on.

Thanks so much on both replies.
Why is it after I release throttle to turn.
Then throttle again there will be some sounds from the gears.
I believe I shim well. Is carbon gear boxes flex lesser.
I believe those uneven surfaces on the car parks wears out my gear. The car park surfaces is really rough. But it's the only place I have.

1. Bevel gears in side the diff
2. Ring and pinion inside gear box?

Ps: I've never heard of the gears being referred to as miter gears. So it's confusing to me.. Perhaps some others

Miter gears are the gears that intersect at 90*, like these:



I believe the ones that are stripping are the ones on the shaft, if I'm reading the posts correctly.

The 'milter' gears are two 20t gears that are next to the spur gear. Basicslly the ones that make the transverse motor layout possible.

I learned something new . Miter gears are bevel gears that are 90 degree and 1:1 ratio

The ring and pinion gears aren't shimmed correctly. Either the pinion depth is wrong or the ring gear is too far away from the pinion, or both.

Were the steel gears more noisy or less noisy than the plastic ones when they were new?

yes I have..it last a little longer than the plastic...I went for the metal..works great..
