Was looking forward to what was coming out when it was hinted that "something new" was on the horizon. Not too sure I like the transverse motor vs in-line though. My 03 is beautifully balanced with 6g of weight on the motor side. If the 04 balance is similar to my 05v2, I had to put ~35g under the battery to get in the ballpark.
Hopefully the gearbox dimensions are similar to the 03. Would love to just drop a couple of the gear differentials in mine! :sneaky: |

How long before there is a graphite chassis for it? If it had one I would buy it.

I enthusiastically appreciate that Tamiya are still bringing innovative designs to the market, however they are also falling into the trap of change for changes sake. The TA06 had so many compromises to allow for the in-line battery, and this drivetrain is mechanically interesting but it will absolutely ruin the left-right weight distribution compared to a longitudinal motor car.
Those "medium-short" shocks and updated c-hubs are sure to appear in the late-2013 premium TC though. And perhaps the return of a TB Evo derivative too. |
with my calibrated eyeballs inspecting the plan-view of this platform, i would say that the motor placement laterally in the chassis isnt any worse than that of the TA05 V2 pro that we all know and love. i would say as well balanced as that of the regular TA05, at worst.. that coupled with the lack of 'torq-steer' (however small) should be an improvement..
just a hunch.. we shall see.. |

This car looks sick! May be a cool car for parking lot races and TCS. I really enjoy racing the TA05, and hope this one is even better.

Yeah, if that fits in the evo 5 that would be great. I still even run my Evo 3 in silvercan and its a great car.
The One way/ Spool looks interesting as well as you can convert it between the two |
me no care, I want one.:)
