How about an open source transponder system (made in the USA) that is reasonably priced. This is a real world problem affecting all r/c racing.

1. Design a good rubber tire and wheel for 1/12 scale racing.

2. Design a modular banked track sections that could be used in corners for a sweeper or to make a banked straight. The pieces would have to be made to go over carpet, and still hold grip and little to no bump on or off transition.

See attached image (a top view). It's been a few years (and the track isn't there anymore), but from what I remember we used "option A" since it was easier to get the spacing of the screws right. The 1/16" thick UHMW pieces were 12" long, and I think we spaced them 24" apart (maybe 30").
