Removing GRP 1/8 tires(and shrinking them?)
I had an accident where a 1:1 ran over my 1:8 GT onroad car. I had the GRP tires that come pre-glued to the wheels. After the mishap, I had two broken/warped wheels, so I stored them in acetone to remove the tires. The tires have been removed, but one of them is now larger on one side. It's warped like a tire that was made to fit a short-course type of wheel. Is there a way to shrink or restore the tires back to how they were?
Also, I read somewhere that GRP tires have a slightly different rubber than other brands... is this true? If so, did I make a mistake by using acetone to remove them? What should I have used? To shrink them, I'm trying to boil the tires, at the moment, but it's not looking promising. |
acetone and some types of tires do not work. the acetone just break down the rubber on a molecular scale. just throw them away...
