Hey guys i have an Fk04 and whilts working on it i somehow strupped the screw on the top deck on the front left bulk head, does anyone have any tips on how to get these out without causing damage to the car

try sticking a 5/64 imperial allen driver in there, iirc it is slightly bigger and should fit in there tightly

same if you strip a grub screw in a pinion, use a 1/16 allen driver.

Take a dremel with a cutoff wheel and put a slot in the screw head. Then use a small flathead screwdriver to get it out.

you can get those counter drill bit that will grab the screw and unscrew it.
check the sears or home depot.

i think it is call Craftsman 3 pc. Screw-Out™ Damaged Screw Remover Set.

Hi,

I had the same problem. I did the dremel trick as said by JamesArluck.
This is very easy, and gives a neat result.

Replace the screws by steel ones made for the original T1. These screws are much harder.

oh yeah i forgot about them.....you have to drill a small hole first though..so if the screw thread is 3mm (like M3 screws) then do a 2mm/2.5mm hole

over here in the UK they are called stud extractors.

the threads on them are the wrong way so when you go to unscrew the stuck screw, the stud extractor will actually get even tighter and it will pull the screw out...reeeeealy useful.

raving-monkey, They (Craftsman) also make a reverse cutting bit that You would simply use reverse to 'drill' out the screw. When it 'bites' enough, the screw will loosen and the bit acts as a screw-driver.

you can glue a cheap "L" allen wrench into the screw with CA, let sit overnight, then remove it

I dunno how much room you have... but try removing all the other top deck screws, and then turning the whole topdeck in an effort to get the screw loose.

i was thinking that but i think the top deck is sort of 'sunk in' to the bulkhead..well it certainly was on the evo2 i had, not to sure about the FK04...you could give it a try though, it should work.

That or solder a cheap allen wrench into it. The heat sometime will loosen any thread lock too. Works everytime, may take a few trys to get the "bond" right...
