If you mean your running an FDR of 2.9. that seems quite excessive and will generate heat no doubt.

1. You need to buy or borrow a temp gun.

2. On a carpet track that is around 100 x 50 ft. - I would consider an FDR of 3.8 with about 40 degrees of timing. I have used up to 50 degrees of timing if the motor temperature allows.

3. Temp the motor every two minutes to see if you can push it further and adjust from there. I have not pushed it beyond 160F degrees myself.

I would start on about 3.3, I don't think the hobbywing likes to much timing as I have seen a few blow up from high timing, I would start as standard and time up slowly while monitoring motor temps

I'm considering getting a Xerun V10 7.5 or 8.5t motor for a 2wd sct with a HW extreme stock esc. Which motor would you recommend ?

8.5 for the 2wd and 7.5 or 6.5 for 4wd.

Thanks cobra. The 8.5t motor is listed as a 4165kv. Do you know if this was with 20 degrees of end bell motor timing?

About 22 degree and if anyone tells you their motors start from zero take off the back plate and measure the angle of the hall sensors.

Could you explain how to do this please, measuring the angle with relation to what fixed item?

Hi.
Ran my new V10 17.5T in my T4 14 on carpet today. It came off the track a little hotter than I would like to. 190F (87C) after 6 min. when read from the hobbywing V3.1 program box. When measured with a temp gun from outside, it read around 170F (77C).

The track is with a 65ft long straight, and then with many high speed turns, and a few tight corners. So you are on full throttle a lot of the time.

My basic settings on the esc is 50% boost, and 10%timing. My endball timing was around 32.5deg, but I turned it down to 30deg, to see if I could get the temp down. But it didn't do much. My final drive was 7.47.

I compared with my Novac Vulcano, with 100% same settings on the esc, and final drive, and this was about 30F lower temps.

Any surgestions where to look at first, to get a more acceptebel temp ?

What was your gearing? Can you provide all of your ESC settings? Did your radios throttle EPA?

Default Gearing and Timing

Hi All. Could I please get an indication of a good starting point for gearing and timing for 17.5 and 13.5 boosted on a medium sized outdoor track in a TC. Also are these motors focused more on torque or rpm? How do they handle heat? Thanks.

Hi, would like to know what EPA settings do you have on the radio while doing the speedo settings for neutral forward and brake points, do you go for 100% both forward and brake or 140% forward and 160% brake

Thanks.
