Vintage Kyosho Cobra 427 - build or not
Iv'e had this thing on a shelf in a box since i got it in trade a few years ago. It was already partially built, barely enough to put the belts on. Everything else was still in the sealed bags. So... having no real collector value cause it's open... but since it is opened and started I was thinking... maybe it would be a fun build. Sure I could sell it on ebaby for a ton anyway but I don't need to and I love building nice cars. So do I put it back on the shelf or build it ?

So... the only real question is "do you keep it just so you can eventually sell it ?" or do you build it, display it and take care of it so you can STILL eventually sell it but maybe for slightly less?
Seriously, as a fellow collector I understand your thought BUT unbuilt kits usually bring TOP money only if they're new in a unopened box. Even at that it really depends on the kit. With something like the Cobra you could build it, paint it tastefully and well, keep the box and all paperwork and you'll still have a valuable piece.

It looks like a relative noob started it. I will finish it to a high standard and yes keep it. Couldn't help myself and mounted the tires on the wheels and must say these are one beautiful set of rims. Accurate look and a sweet brushed chrome finish. This is going to be one sexy shelf queen.

I'm not really a pic and build thread kind of guy so this thread will die quickly. However last night I finished the roller. This is the worst quality rc car Iv'e ever built. A few things scream Kyosho quality but some things are just horrid. The shocks are two pieces of plastic... But I wasn't expecting a ZX5 or Inferno, it is one of their "nostalgia" series cars so it is what it is. As fast as the roller went the body will take many many hours. It's what really makes the car anyway. Check out those wheels.
This car has droop screws but one piece plastic camber rods. Mind boggling.

yea Kyosho can do it right when they want to. They make some killer plastic models. The centers are flat finish and the rim as you can see has a spun machine finish. The scale is completely wrong, they are too small. If youv'e ever put your hands on a real 427 the rear tires are unbelievably huge.
