True it probably won't affect many racers. I know of 4 right off of the top of my head...but that aside I've seen no evidence that there is a software issue making these chargers cause fires. Just impose an amperage restriction and leave it at that.

IIC usually follows ROAR rules as a guideline but is not a ROAR race. It would likely be the same max voltage that ROAR uses.

Scotty - I agree charging at 40amps isn't necessary but I don't own any other chargers ... Except for a GFX which breaks every time I ship it to a race. Hopefully the 10amp max charge rule can be applied here to to icharger.

The easiest solution for icharger "safety" is to limit our power supplies, not make us all buy new chargers. Id only bring a 20-30 amp PS instead of my 40/50/70a PS.

First I have EVER heard of an I charger causing a Lipo fire anywhere. Can someone send me a link? I can't find anyone that has heard of it and know a hundred people with them including almost every oval racer out there.

I do know they just released new software yesterday but I haven't looked to see what it is for.

I like Hanulec only own gfx chargers other than the I charger I've had since November of last year. Guess its time to buy something else for this race.
I would be more worried about using a gfx any day than an I charger since it has no balancer or safety feature for a run away Lipo. EVERY fire I have ever seen is due to a gfx! FACT

Junsi said themselves say they found a "serious problem" with the 2.05 firmware.

The update notes say "Solve the charger frozen problem with V2.05."

The 4010 DUO and 308 DUO are affected.

Also, the new 308 shipped with the 2.05 firmware. I hear ProgressiveRC is going through and updating their inventory to 2.06. If you got one of the new 308's, it seems like you should really consider updating.

Hey Guys and Girls, don't go out and buy new chargers just yet.

Yes I just found that too Adam. Ive never updated my charger since day one. It still has 2.00 on it.

I saw that 2.05 came out 8-27 and the new 2.06 came out 9-11. I guess they figured out the issue very fast since the update was so quick to come out.

I am sure that Scotty and Kraig are aware and are looking at options since so many guys coming have chimed in that the Icharger is their only charger now.

Thats what an icharger did to everything in my buddys pit... justs saying. Caused like 2 grand in damagr to his rc stuff and blew a hole in the side of his trailer. I support scottys call on this. If u wanna charge at 40 amps for whatever unknown reason and blow the side of ur face off thats fine. Ill use my gfx coach

Thanks Kraig. I literally just got for my 4010duo yesterday for vegas so I didn't have to lug around the GFX that caught fire at the carpet nats. Ask Knapp about that. much fun! Ran it last night charged at 20 amps 2 packs and then discharged 2 packs at 30 amps each. I will update it tonight to 2.06

He needed one of those LiPo sacks that's big enough to fit a whole 1/12 inside!

For what it's worth, the iCharger 4010 & 308 supports all charge rates. 'Round here, we're all doing 10A max, same as it ever was.

This charger has quickly become the most popular with the on-road crowd from what I've seen. Even as far back as nats, I probably saw 50 of them in the pits.

I certainly think there is a very reasonable solution to this issue that does not require banning one specific brand of charger. There are many chargers that can charge from .1 amps all the way up to 50 or more. Setting a maximum charge rate is probably the most reasonable way to handle this regardless of the make and model of the charger.

One of the main reasons I bought the iCharger was due to how much control I could have over my charging. The ability to accurately balance charge at 4.20 per cell is a great saftey feature. The other great feature is that you can calibrate the charger as well if it is over charging packs, which is a feature I have used in the past. My packs come off at exactly the same voltage every-time unlike a lot of the less quality chargers out there.

Charging at 10 Amps to an unbalanced pack is more dangerous then 20 amps to a properly balanced pack.
