Our local track (Kansas City) is going to have a big race in December with a Brushless 4300/LiPo class. We have a pretty decent following for it locally and hope to get some people around the region out to join us. Foam tires, Ozite, sedans... you know the drill. We're going to allow the 13.5 in our stock class as well. Come on out, show your support for brushless RACING.

Revelations race way in Montclair, CA is hosting a three day race sponsored by Kyosho on 9/22-9/24/6. I thought that this track would be perfect to show what the brushless motors can really do.

With the speeds that the brushless motors are reaching maybe its time to try it at a slightly larger track. lol

It is not legal at this time for ROAR. I think they are trying to get it legal for ROAR next year. No idea on IFMAR rules.

Fellow Novak users

Should there be any play in the rotor on a 4.5r? By play I mean in and out motion.

Do your motors have any play in them?

I've got three, and they are all have very little play.

Mine has about 1mm play.. same as the other cars around here.
My 5.5R was about the same.

They all seem to have a decent wiggle to them...

Yeah all of them have it, even the 3.5. It doesn't seem to do much although I've noticed when the motor is reved the sharft moves further into the motor then when the throttle is released the sharft moved back out. Maybe this is why the movement isn't shimmed out as it would cause drag and slow the motor down when the sharft moves further in.
Drew.

For the 4.5 try an FDR of around 10. Adjust higher or lower depending on your track.

FOr the 3.5 - ask someone else.

A note on the 4.5: It likes to gear down. 10 and above is good.

try the 10.2 its the best for technical tracks like the one i race, no thermal problems at all. I installed additional fan to the esc coz my country is pretty much warm. for the motor no problems at all.

drew, im ordering my spektrum hope its worth the money.

I have some problems with my Novak 5.5.
The motor shuts down after a few minutes of heavy running.
I have tried the entire range of rollouts, and the problem persists.
I also run an extra fan on the motor.
It shuts down at approx 80 degrees celcius, which looks to me as well below the temperatures at which damage would occur. Does anyone know any tricks or suggestions? Does anyone know if you can bypass the temperature sensor on the motor in any way?
