I might not know how to do it....but what I meant was I know this "New Novak Brushless System" thread already, and already in the thread...I wish there is a search fuction that can search "4 cell GTB" within this specific thread (New Novak Brushless System) only....like showing all the reply that has the word "4 cell" and "GTB" within this 82 pages thread...

May be there is this fuction....if you know, please let me know how.

Hey guys, I have a 3.5 BL GTB system, and I plan to install it in on of my TC. I keep reading here about how fast and powerful these brushless motors are. As a benchmark, the most power I've handled so far is a 10 turn brushed motor in a TC (6 cells).

With that in mind, assuming batteries, car, track, driver, and other variables are held constant, are we talking A LOT more speed and power for the 3.5 BL GTB system vs. 10 turn brushed motor? Just wondering if the difference is dramatic, or just "a little bit" in terms of speed and power.

the 3.5 is like a 7 turn brushed motor

whats the temp of the motor when it thermals? how many times have you thermal the motor? I would get a brand new rotor and star a around 10.75 FDR , i would also check your drivetrain make sure is running free

I found if you charge at a little bit lower rate it tends not to thermal as much. It will have less punch but it still will be a fast. I charge my 4800 li-po's at 4.5 and 4200 ni-mh at 4amps and they run great.

Worth a shot.

Good luck!!!!!!

I am going to go to the track this morning to check the temp exactly when it shuts down ,by the time I was able to get to the car and check the temp it was only 140 deg,I only have this system 2 weeks and it has thermaled quite a bit .The drivetrain on the car is as smooth as it could be .

Yes I am running it in profile 1 .I am not using any drag brake just whatever is in profile 1
Well just got back from the track and the car is still going into thermal tried a fdr of 12.3 to 9.86 the most it will run is 3 1/2 min .I also charged my batteries at 4 amps. The unit is shutting down at 140 deg ,I guess I have to send it back ,kind of sucks since it is only about 2 weeks old.

hey Sal.,

im not trying to bash but i have seen alot of the guys with the novaks having the same problem i just dont think they can handle it. these peoples cars are fine as far as drivetrain you have raced with a few of them at horsham an none of the gtbs regular or spread spectrum have made a 5 minute main with 6 or 5 cells and me and another person ran the lrp tc spec an they performed flawlessly with a 4.0 and 4.5 speed passion type motors (orion/peak/gm)

and i just picked up a 3.5 with alot of time at the local walmart seeing how it went never did it thermal call me if u want ill tell u more

sns820: same problem I got with my Novak GTB with 4.5R motor (non-sintered). described the problem to Novak's customer support and they requested to send it back to factory. send yours before it become totally unuseable.

I just want to thank Novak for their excellent customer service and aftersales support. I'm from the Philippines and shipping to the US is really expensive. I got my Novak BL system back last Saturday (29th), sent a week before (22nd). That's a fast turn-around time for me.

They replaced my GTB for an upgraded version, and my old non-sintered 4.5R with a sintered one. There was no charge since items were still under warranty.

I ran the new 4.5R system on my new JRXS Type R and wow it was ballistic. No more thermal issues with the same gearing. The ESC ran cool and so is the motor. Also tested with the Peak Racing 4800 Lipo pack and this is the future of R/C cars.

Many thanks to Steve for answering my emails and checking when my parcel shipped out, and esp. to Charlie for all the questions I have thrown at him thru my many emails, and for checking my system personally and sharing what they found. Kudos to Novak for this kind of support they give
