You will have more than a blast with your car, the machine you have your brushless set up on is serious. Take Care...

Talking Two questions

I have 2 questions.

- Can you use the black Novak fans in place of the clear 30mm ones on the GTB ESC (I'm running the 4.5) ? It looks like the clear ones are unreinforced nylon whereas the black ones are glass reinforced (much stronger). I keep getting rocks (offroad stadium truck) and fingers (touring car) into the fan and breaking off blades. Gone through 2 clear fans so far.

- I have the 4.5 bought with GTB system. Can I purchase the sintered rotor and have the equivalent of the 3.5 or does the 3.5 also have different stuff inside the motor housing? And how well does that rotor work in the 4.5? To run mod touring car and offroad stadium truck on big tracks.

OK, that's 3 questions...

Thanks !

Nexus racing has a direct replacement fan for the GTB and it flows alot more air than the stock novak fan

You can use the black fans. They are more durrable for sure. They won't fit "square", but if you use to screws and put it on a slight angle, you get very good coverage.

Still use the spacers. And you will need longer screws. 4-40 screws work the best, but 3mm screws can be used also.

Changing the Rotor does not change the "wind" or turn of the motor. The New Sintered Rotor is simply a much better rotor then the orignal. Stronger and more effecient is the idea. Much better braking as well.

Thumbs up

Thanks Charlie.

PS the extra braking will be greatly appreciated. On our large asphalt track, with missle launch acceleration and the original rotor's braking, it only took a little too much throttle blip and I'd be testing our custom "SAFER" barriers again. My cars thank you !

I use on a medium to large sized outdoor track a FDR of 7.9 for my 3.5R at 5 Cells.

Marcos's recommendations are good. I usually run 10.5 or 10.3 depending on the track... larger tracks need different gearing though.

Whats the proper gearing for a 13.5 SS motor without the sintered rotor for a small track with a 90ft straight? I was running a CO27 at about 7.19FD. I've read from several thread to gear about 3.9 to 4.8FD, but my motor got up to 160 degrees running a 5.01FD...no way I'm going that low.

Like I mentioned in my PM, I'd try about a 5.8 FDR to start, that should be closer to what you need(especially since it sounds like your track may be similar in size to mine)....

You have a 13.5 SS Pro 'without' a sintered rotor?
