profile 3 has less punch? why? becuase of minimum drive is set to 2 instead 3? i dont get it completly , you can allways change minimum drive on profile 1 and get same result right?

Rodney- Drew is correct you really shouldn't notice a huge speed increase, the esc should just run cooler.

DotMan- The schedule I have is that those motors are supposed to ship at the end of February...so they should be hitting your hobby shops pretty soon?

Skip- don't be mean

DrKucho- You are correct... the minimum drive setting seems to another setting that helps make the low-end drivability better for most people.

You can change the minimum drive in any profile... except profile 5.

I think Bob made you change your name because Novaks replacement for the GTB is going to be called the "Evicerator".

Hahaha good theory Tony but somehow I don't think so.... unless there's something they aren't telling me?

As far as your gearing question goes I generally run a 5.5 FDR ... so if it's a smallish track you might need to gear a little lower... 6.0 or so?

John - How the heck does that fit in the car? 100 spur would require a 46 or 47 tooth spur.

Talking gear ratio?

I have the 4.5 GTB with the sintered rotor and it works great. There is some issues with gearing here at the Tamiya track in Aliso. Racers have recommended to run as low as 8.5 FDR and as high as 11.5 and everything in between. Temp. on the motor and speedo are fine,(110F.-135F.) although the weather has been mild. But what would you recommend? Also is the frequency settings only for the brushed motor?
Thanks in advance!

i found that 9.75 is the sweet spot with the 4.5 with the sintered rotor

Maxepower- I usually run a 3.5 at Tamiya but with the 4.5 I believe I tested 9.4:1 with pretty good success.

You're going to have to play with your gearing a little bit to suit your driving style... Depending on how you come onto the main straight there and what your line is like coming off the sweeper can have a pretty good effect on what gear you should use.

So, to reitterate, start with 9.4... but I don't think 9.1ish or 9.75ish are out of the question either...depending the variables I mentioned

As far as the drive frequency goes, yes, it's only a brushed mode option on the GTB.

Hope this helps!

Steve, this is for Europe.... as you know, we're going 5 cell... and I just bought a 3.5r (use to use the 5.5 with sintered).... what would you recommend as a ratio range for this motor with 5 cells? I heard some values around 8.5.... thanks!

Hey Rampal,

I haven't really gotten any good information back from my european driver's on 5 cell gear ratios yet... but 8.5 sounds like it might be an ok starting point for you on larger european flowing tracks... I don't think we could get away with that on our small tracks here in the US though!

I'll try to dig up any test data and give you better info as soon as I get some more time to do so!
