Hi Guys,

The New 4cell GTB is essentially the same ESC that we've been building for our Team drivers to race in 12th scale, and that some of the 4 cell oval guys have been "making".

The ESC footprint is the same, it's got smaller wires, a much much much lower heatsink, and the harnesses are Direct Soldered instead of plugged in.

The ESC is very low profile.

I think this will actually be out in January. We've been pretty good lately hitting our release marks....

Very cool Charlie, way to respond to market demand. Hopefully this doesn't give the 4-cell TC guys new life to chatter up the boards about how it's going to save racing. :-D The oval and 1/12 guys are going to be thrilled.

I guess if this ESC doesn't have a smaller footprint, there's not a ton of hope that BL ESC's are going to get a whole lot smaller in the near future. Either that, or you guys wanted to produce this with minimum engineering changes since it's basically a GTB without a heatsink, and it's unclear how the market will react to something this specialized.

Hmmmm, very interesting. It's fun reading between the lines.

Here's a picture of the voltage regulator:

It's not the profile I have problems with in the GenX, it's the footprint, it's hanging off the side of the chassis....

Will the new speed control handle 6 cells too or only 4 cell?

It said it is a booster instead...booster for the Personal so it won't skip laps (skip counting) when the low voltage occur......

I wouldn't say that. I mean, lets face it, for all the props that people throw Novak's way, they haven't exactly led the industry in making ESC's smaller.

Even when they manage to go smaller, it comes at the cost of a cap thats as big as the ESC itself. When faced with the fact that their ESC's are too big, they throw claims that this or that makes theirs better than others. But the fact is, that the smaller ESC's, with small or non-existent caps, have been working as well as any Novak.

This isn't Novak knocking, just reality. If your hoping for great service, Novak is tops, but if its a small ESC your after, Novak is the last place you look.

So I wouldn't give up hope of a small(or at least small-er) brushless ESC, I just wouldn't pin my hopes to Novak to be first out the gates with it.

Does the 4 cell version still have the large cap attached to it? That there would decrease the footprint quite a bit.

the pic on novaks site shows the same number of wires on the motor/batt/cap side so i would imagine its still there, just not mentioned anywhere.

Charlie,
I like my GTB in 12th a lot, will you have a kit or instructions on how to do this to existing GTB's?

...and why do the screw heads on the 4 cell GTB look photo chopped?

Just.....don't ask... And yes, I am sure there is still a big cap with this new speedo, not a big problem at all.
I do like the idea of the re-solderable for the remote switch and signal wires, now on 12th scale, we can cut the wire just long enough for 12th scale and make it nice and neat...no zip tie around those wires.

Now...will NOVAK release a shorter brushless motor signal wires instead?
