Guo,

You cant go wrong with any of those matchers. They all go through enough cells to match everything very closely and all do their matching in a Temperature controlled room. Just pick the one you feel will offer you the best service/Price. All the cells come from the same manufacturing plant.

ThunderRC also has good stuff and I will have IB36's and 38's in a few weeks. But like I said you cant go wrong with any you listed.

I got the 2nd charge on my IB3800's last night and the capacity did go up as Danny said they would. The first charge they all took about 4100 to 4200mAh. On the second charge they all took over 4200+. I reran one pack last night with about a 2.5 hour rest for the pack and on the 2nd charge of night the capacity went up again to 4350mah.

I am thinking its a safe bet that these packs can be run twice a night.

YOU will definately want to turn down your peak detects from what your used ot on GP3300's. Try 0.03 to 0.02.

that is good new Ray. I wanted your opinion.

would you run 3600 for the weight advantage or 3800 because they are less likely to drop off in voltage? looking for both stock and mod for my 1/12 and mod would be a 9*2 or maybe even 8*2. I am able to make runtime with my first gen 3600, but i find that they do drop off a little. And I have read that the current gen of 3600 have better runtime.

is it a good idea to put a 3600 pack that has just been raced with and is hot onto a novak discharge tray? basically what i want to know is if i should let it cool or can i just discharge it? i always discharge my 3600's on the novak tray.

The Novak tray is not indended for taking a pack from say full or half a charge. I use a Reactor 30 after a race, usually takes just a couple of minutes if that, and then before I charge them, I put them on the tray until the lights go out (0.9 /cell). Then I charge them. (usually 2 or more hours to cool between)

If there is alot left in your pack, say running stock or 19T you could have half a pack left. I consistently get 44+ laps out of a battery, but 28 laps in a 5 min heat. Likely that Novak tray is getting quite warm.

I should add, that I am using the blue/white label IB3600's unmatched, I bought for $50/pack(CDN after shipping, bars, shrink deans etc). I just got into the hobby, and felt I could not use the extra even 10% a $120 a decent pack could give me.
After 6 months... I have seen charges go from a peak of 4100+ (just one of the packs) to some charging to a grand total of 3200+ now 6 months later, after cycling them 2 weeks ago. Granted I use them 2-4x each between 2-3 visits to the track. I have one GP3300 pack, that I save for mains, and never charge more than once a day (6A, 30mv peak for all batteries)

Guo Chean-I am going to go out on a limb here and say that step charging these will only be to lower final charge temp. The capacity and punch is pretty eyepopping already. A 2-ste charge will probably suffice with a 3000 mah at 6 or 7 amps and then to peak with 5 amps and a 0.02 peak detect?? This being for stock.

HOnestly-be the guinnea pig on this one and let us know cause I bet most will say the cells too new and no ones knows yet. I just found out they have more capacity the 2nd run of the night. wow!!

Ray,

Are going to test the 3800s in a stock motor tomorrow night? I can't make it there tomorrow, so email me Wednesday and let me know your thoughts.

Fuzzy-if my night goes as planned-I will run the 3-IB3800 once-then Deadshort them and run them again a couple hours later. I also plan on running them against my best GP3300 pack I own. All w/ stock motors. So I hope to learn how different they perform from regular to deadshorted-and then against a killer GP pack. I will e-mail you Wednesday with the results-which of course will be somewhat subjective.

Guo: I'm really not sure about step charging. To me it seems like it wouldn't make much difference than regular linear charge. We use 6amps with .02-.03 peak detect.

Hope this helps.

Subjective, yes. But a valued opinion none the less.
