I really applaud Danny's efforts in pushing the 35 amp standard. Sure, his stuff is a little pricier than a no-name matcher. But at the same time, I've never had a problem with any of his cells. Contrary to your beliefs, zapping matters. Too little of a zap, no gain. Too much, you fry the cell. It bugs me when guys throw out numbers without really understanding what they mean. If you want higher run time and voltage numbers, then buy some integy cells, since they continue to match at 20 amps. Then again, how many big races have integy batteries won??
i do really wish people read the whole thing.
iam sure danny didnt think i was flaming him or his company[if he did iam sorry didnt mean to].
you should stop jumping to conclusions

Can you give me examples of any batteries or battery's matchers better than SMC IB3800 ?
btw, something right ( not write )

I have some IB3800 matched at 30A ( not SMC matched ) , run time 450+
You can expect less going up and down the stairs changing battery J/K

( U can expect to use bigger pinion for more top speed, or U don't have to worry about battery dumping at end of race : steady power accross 5 min. race )

trf racer I have no problem with your posts and i'm glad I can explain my thoughts and experience with battery matching. This is what I think these message boards are best for.

The percentage of 1.18+ cells was real low with the first batches. The latest batches have seen more cells in the 1.18+ range so expect to see more of them out in the market. IB is working hard at tweaking the 3800 and so far it seems like the are being succesful.

Why would anyone buy 3300s anymore? The 3600/3700/3800 will all be legitimately legal soon.

They are legal stuffs.

I hope Li Po batts will be legal too in 2006. It will be cool to have 8 minutes modified race or 12 minutes stock race

Danny SMC : Will you sell SMC li-po batts ?

The current rules would never allow a LIPO in its current configuration.....

None are even submitted for approval yet and none will be.

The problem with LIPO batteries right now besides the safety and reliability issues (yes I have some) is that they don't fit our cars like a NIMH, which will cause serious balancing issues. In offroad, this isn't too bad, but in Touring car, where the battery is often used to offset the weight of the motor and the electronics...

Expecting all the car companies to make their cars work with another design of battery is a bit much to ask.....the LIPO companies will have to figure it out...but, I doubt you will see them make anything just for RC anytime soon. All the batteries out there now are designed for other uses, but have been adapted for use in RC by some RC companies.

I would think they would. But you should try asking in SMC's forum. They have always seemed to try to make sure you don't get stuck with a bad pack. I had a cell vent, and Danny just told me to send it in, and they would take care of it.
