Tuning the car is similar to any car. If you intend to run in the TCS, only Tamiya hop ups are allowed. The car drives differently than a touring car, as you might expect. If you are contemplating getting one, drive somebody's first and get a feel for it.

Default unequal turning

Hi all

Took my F201 out for its first race on Sunday and had some steering dramas. Its set up pretty standard i.e. - 1 camber all round, 0 toe on front 2 toe in on rear all on setup gauges but....

Left turns are beautifully balanced, right turns are a nightmare, the car runs wide and understeers in through and out of the corner seemingly regardless of entry speed.

Nothing that I can see that is out of whack.....any ideas?

Cheers

Andy

it is not uncommon for the plastic chassis to be tweaked from either building or just driving and hitting a bump wrong.Although most of the time this does not make a drastic change it will make subtle changes especially noticeable if you run the stabilizer plate.I would suggest getting a tweak station, measuring left shocks compared to right shocks at full extension to make sure they are equal, measure the left to right rods to the locker arms with calipers as well to ensure they are equal length.once you know the suspension is equal left to right set the chassis on a level surface with no tires, check to see if it rocks corner to corner in any direction.
After determining either way if the chassis is suspect make efforts to straighten if needed by giving it a bit of a twist, put the wheels on and sit the car on a tweak station to see if it levels out.
Level the car with the rods not the shocks.
Once this is done ensure the camber and toe settings are good and equal left to right and then finally re-check the tweak before trying.
Enjoy.

I had the same problem, here is how I fixed it.
I put the car on the HUDY set system and found out my servo was not centered. Left turn: 22 degrees, right turn: 12 degrees.
Changed the servo to a better quality one, and this will solve your problems.
I had made a lot of changes to the rear as well and once I changed the servo I also made some adjustments to the rear.

wrxmy99,

check the ride height left and right. A lot of times the ride height could be off just a 1mm each side and can seriously affect the way the car handels.

You might want to also check the droop on the car and shock length. This car is very sensitive to changes on those adjustments as well.

(Oops, I just read Inferno's post, basically what he said )

Did the steering problems happen immediately or after a crash? The lower front bulkhead where the lower arms mount tends to bend/break pretty easily and this will cause this problem.

Thanks all.

No crash involved, it started like this straight out of the box.

I'll recheck setup and see what I find..

I just purchased the Tamiya adjustable pistons for the F201. They come with 1 and 3 hole pistons. What pistons are you guys using front to rear and what shock oil should I start with.

I have 3 hole with 100wt and gold springs f/r

Does anybody know if the new reinforced arms will include the cross brace like on the TRF version?

The photos don't show alot. The arms themselves will be sold separately.

I just saw a rcfiend's 3Racing F201 graphite conversion. I am absolutely amazed at the car and the way it looks. I'm curious if any of you guys can talk about how it handles compared to the stock chassis.
