Default Do normal TC wheels and tires work well with the F201?

I just bought a F201, but i want to save the rims and tires for the TCS races. So has anyone tried using sedan rims/tires for this sweeet a#$ chassis? And are there any 3rd party bodies for it? dun really want to damage the original body......

renben,

Yes, sedan tires do work on the car and it makes the car handel very well, but it looks very out of scale. You can save the kit's body and pick up a Tamiya type A body. Which is just a generic F1 body with no sponsor decals for about $26. This way you can save the kit body (which normaly is $35+ if bought separately) and practice with the Type A body.

If you guys have not seen the latest issue of R/C Nitro Magazine with the FPM Nitro F201 you can see pictures of it here http://www.formula1-rc.com/FPM201.asp

It puts the electric version to shame.

Renben, the Ride tires are generally the cheapest by a couple of dollars. They perform well as do the Pit Shimizu ones...lots of people use these as they offer 3 compounds. I'd stay away from the soft compounds unless it is cold where you are at. Any of the aftermarket tires are better than the kit ones though.

We will also have all of these tires back in stock later this week at http://www.formula1-rc.com/shop

Nolan wrote me back regarding this awesome car. The limited production car probably won't be available for about a year. But he is taking orders right now.

Default F201 Redmond Hobby

I think I have enough people interested to run F201 at Redmond this weekend. I talked to Stanley, he said if we have enough we will run them. This weekend is a two day event, saturday qualifiers, sunday at least one more qualifier, then mains. I think it would be best if we use the current TCS rules, with the Roar stock motors, anyone else in???

Hi Kevin
I know that you are Tamiya die hard fan.But I didn't think it matter, any person want to put non tamiya parts in his or her car for better or stronger s/b ok ,as long they're not running tamiya tcs and as far the motor goes the would be the club decision

Have any of you guys tried the monster motor with the high speed gear set? If so, what were your results?

Hey guys.

I got my car to drift really nice into the corners. I have the foam inserts in the rear tires but for the front, I didn't put them in. Any one else here try that?

by the way...how hot is the 540 motor supposed to get? mine gets so hot that I cant handle it for more than 3 seconds, it feels like its around 190 deg. hope that's normal?

ps: to get the car to turn in more aggressive...what if you lock the rear diff action?(I know its silly!)

To help cool the motor... put the clamp on motor heatsink made for the TB Evo series.

RCInfinity

I wouldn't run the Monster with the high speed gear set. The standard gearing is perfect for most tracks. You drop from 7.15:1 down below 6:1 with the high speed set. You're gonna cook that motor and have no lowend grunt. If you look at the curves of that motor on a dyno, most of the power is high up in the rpm range. A P2K would probably work pretty well with the hs gear set, though.
