A compound tires are the softer tire and used for cooler track temps. B compound tires are the harder tire and used for hotter track temps. It's more a function of track temps then levels of grip.

Did anyone have any trouble with their rear drive shaft couppling rubbing on the battery? The battery pack is a 3300 Stick pack, and the couppler is stock. Chassis is 3R. I figured I would just shape it slightly differently so it wont rub, but is there any real solution?

If you use the 3R hop-up drive shaft this will not be an issue.. I have the 3R chassis and the drive shaft hop-up and it works just fine with a 3800 stick packs....

The driveshaft is not whats hitting. The drive shaft couppler, like... with a CVD, the outdrive I should say. The outdrive which is attached to the spur gear on the forward side.

Does anyone make a lightweight driveshaft outdrive?

This is not my car but this shows the outdrive I am talking about. Front center.

And this just for some inspiration.

Are you putting the spur in the right way? I'll look at mine tonight when I get home but I tought I had a lightweigh outdrive or whatever it's called...
Ask these guys in the racing thread... They may have a better answer than I have...

I am pretty sure the spur gear isnt on backwards. I had it that way during reassembly once, and it would not turn. The drivetrain certainly spins freely so I dont think thats it.

Ill go back through the car and see if i can add some spacers somewhere.

That's my car I designed those bearing retainers then gave the design to FPM to produce. He modified them slightly from my original to make them work better and produced them.

As for the coupler...I think my stock one rubbed the battery too but it has been so long I can't remember for sure. The 3Racing one clears it fine.

For those of you still running F201 we at Seattle Indoor Raceway still have some inventory of spares, hop-ups and tires both Pit and some Tamiya. If anyone is interested PM me and I can give you a list of parts. Pricing will be very nice to just make me an offer.

Sorry for the advertising, just trying to clear out some old inventory.

I just looked and I have Nolan Farmer's metal bearing retainers on my 3R chassis. Check with Insp Gadget also for Nolan's( FPM) modified part.

Well what i ended up doing is just shaving down the couppler to accomidate the battery. The real solution would have been to use some solicone tubing, but alas, I threw that out last week. Now im trying to find my Barge boards from 2005 and cant find those either!!!! Arg!

Yes I had the same problem. Turned/sanded down the plastic coupler until it cleared.

That is what I mean yup I had one a while back and (stupid me) threw it out with some other stuff because I had no idea what it was. I run front sways on my touring cars, just thought it would help with the f201 having the rear come around a bit. Do you guys not run them?
