What exactly makes this a "High Performance F201"

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXCPV9&P=0

as opposed to this Ferrari 2001

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXBUB7&P=0

Just curious as I might want to try running one of these in the TCS.

They're both excact same car chassis. except the High performance version comes with 2 bodies and generic decals. The other with Ferrari body and decals.

no one is making foam tires... Most racers prefer to keep the car scale looking as possible so the ribbed rubber tires are everyones choice.

Zombie-cool-makes sense. I have a carpet track and I have a no rubber tire rule and I would have to make an exception for these cars-which could open a flood gate of "why cant I run my .....".

Thats why I was wondering!!!

Thanks,
Ray

I would try 1/12 scale donuts on the kit rim. I'm pretty sure it will work well. If it does, you have all the same choices as with 1/12. I'd prolly start with purple all around. I think that should work pretty well. You might want a set of majenta too, to be safe.

Tnx for all the info guys, here we plan to have a 20 min f201 race, 1700 batt limit, and in every pit stop, tire change is required! But i still have to wait fot the kit!!!+%$## greee!!! Can u just imagine the strategy you gonna do for this race, no motor change allowed and no pitman too! Sure this is a good exercice too, sweating your way from the stand to the pits, heart pumping.

Guys for the arms... I run the plate..... makes the car more durable... yes you may lose some stearing...but in four race days, I have only DNF'd in one qualifier!! For each race day, that is two qual. and a main.....12 runs plus many practice runs and broke only once.....

The thing that you can do is either cut down the brace to allow for more movement which in turn will give you more stearing!! I am in the middle of trying different materials, thickness and widths for the brace... trying to find the happy medium!!

speedtech- Good Racing with you..... man you and Rosetti are fast... I too think we could go for 7 minutes.....

Try a cordless screw driver with wheel nut sized bit.I opened my driver up to allow room for instead of three sub C crap cell I installed 4 cp1700 cells and they fit in the same spot with higher speed and torque in the driver.Works very well for quick pit stops and changing the bit to a phillips for any chassis work is a snap.

I just got one. Now what? lol! All I have are Stock motor's. Is there anything I can do to boost the speed of the F1 shy of buying a new motor? I hear these are fixed gearing (have not received the package as of yet). Help a fellow gear head out!

Not bad for $112 eh?

(I know the front wing is bent, but that is a small price to pay. Car is fine)

Trikster,

Tamiya has release a gear set that will change the ratio to 5.9:1 which is around what you need for a stock motor. Right now, all of us are running 19T motors, which goes well with the stock ratio (which is around 7.1:1 I believe)
