Default Novak Vulcan Spec - Stock Motors

With the Duo v3.5 17.5T grace period coming to an end this month at our local track, I decided to give the Vulcan 17.5T a try. After a few days of testing I was able to get it down to 0.1sec off the current Amain pace at our track. I know 1/10 of a sec maybe a lot, but considering that I'm the average Joe does say something about the motor's potential.

I ended up with an FDR of 4.43 and the endbell at the edge of the label. After 6 minutes the temp came in at 128deg. Our track is 80' x 36' and currently has a very technical (tight) layout.

Hope this helps others out there.

Did you run the D3.5 previously? How do your times compare to your previous motor?

The NOVAK "Outlaw" Motors have a Gray Colored Stator (Gray Area) and are Not Color Coded (ie: Yellow for 17.5, Blue 10.5, Orange 13.5, Green 21.5)

Same personal pace, but with lower temps. The 3.5 I had gear to a 3.90 FDR with max timing. Please keep in mind, our track is on the medium side and with the 3.5 it felt like I would never top out. I had to go down a few teeth on the Vulcan to get the same rip as the 3.5.

Very good San !!!! Have you tried the Outlaw Vulcan versus the d3.5 yet ???? Nice to see a positive review on a Novak mtor for a change..... I've been only running Novak ballistics and I found out that , for me at least, leaving the motor at N timing and gearing up is the best, but battery charging techniques have the greatest effect(ie high amp 14minute charges).... I hope to see a video of the Vulcan in action soon on the critters forum.....good luck....

Tried leaving the timing on 30deg, but the acceleration wasn't there compared to the 3.5. I think this scenario would've worked with our previous layout (Floyd Jr.), but with the tight turns right now dropping teeth and increasing mechanical timing was the ticket.

No Outlaw for us.

Just ordered a Vulcan 13.5 for World GT.

Any roll out or timing recommendations? I was going to start around 70mm and 30deg timing. I ran a 25.5 ballistic in VTA and that one liked ~42 deg. timing.

Is the Vulcan 21.5 spec Roar Legal? I wasn't able to find it in the Roar list of legal motors.... The Vulcan 17.5 spec is legal but would it be any reason why the 21.5 wouldn't?
