Well my testing today on the track revealed that (at least to me) I can't tell the difference between a Helios, 302f recvr, VFS1 speedo and 2343 digital servo running in AHRS mode and the Helios, Spektrum, VFS1 speedo and 2343 digital servo also running in AHRS mode. Also just FYI I opted not to cut the antenna and make a "antenna mount" instead, I needed access to the extra port so I could plug my orion lap counter into it so I couldn't mount the recvr on it's side in order to still use the kit antenna mount. I created the base from plastic spacers and shoe goed it to the recvr, then the top I wrapped around and secured the bottom of the wrap around with an o-ring (a-la 12th scale style):

IMHO, coiling an antenna like that is worse and it definately looks like crap. Quit being a ({}) and cut it. I have more range then I will need at any track and have never had a glitch with the spektrum.

Check out James' mini antenna on his JRX-S

I can't mount tires tonight, im too busy running speedtests on my 10mbit internet connection.

Now go cut your antenna - all the cool kids are doing it.

You missed some great racing this weekend Harsh, if the weather is good I'll see you this Friday for practice at SWR.

OK, I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to say thank you for the info. I have not raced in aheeem...about 4-5 years and am thinking of starting up again and would like to use the Spectrum with my EX1 Precious and this is the only place that I could find conformation that it will work. Thank you!

From what I found after a search there is no combo module & micro receiver.

Only way you can buy them is separately

I'm also interested in using the micro spektrum receiver with a module that will work in my Mars R.

You can buy the module separately but what I want to know is will the new Pro Module work in the Mars R?

I see one listed on Horizon's website for the Ko Helios but doesn't mention the Mars at all.

The only one that mentions the Mars is the original Spektrum module.

Yes, the Helios/JR Z1 module will work in the Mars. And you can use either the original series equipment OR the Pro Series equipment

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I know what I will be saving my dollars for next.

Anyone know any good (good deal!) online shops to order the Pro Module and micro receiver from?

Also if anyone is wondering about processing speed this is from Spektrum's website.

While the original system adds just 5.6 milliseconds (thatís 5.6 thousandths of a second), to your radioís own processing time, the new Pro Systemís module and receiver combine to lower this already miniscule figure to a scant 3.0 milliseconds. It all adds up to lightning fast response and itís sure to have racers feeling more connected than ever.

I installed an original Spektrum module in my Mars R that I got from ebay (module not radio). I binded the used module to my brand new Spektrum micro receiver and it works awesome. I ran this setup in my M18Pro this past weekend and managed to TQ the ultra competitive stock class. I ended up in 2nd place and we were only 3 seconds apart after 74 laps over a 10 minute main. It was awesome.

I'm very impressed with my new module and reciever setup. I would have preferred the Pro module but I got the older model for $25 on ebay.

I'm going to try the antenna mod tonight as the antenna off the back of the radio distracts me a bit when driving.

cheers

Bob
