Default Yokomo BD7 or Xray T4?

2 great cars!! Just don't know which one I should buy...
I'm not the best driver in the world but can get around the track just fine, i do crash butnonly broke 2 parts this carpet season (1 c hub and 1 rear upright ) my knowledge of setting up a car has improved noticeably IMO..
Xray is probably the better decision but the BD7 is really tempting... Only con I have with the yokomo is parts availability, they will have to be ordered which isn't that bad since they are available but I'd be only the 2nd driver at my local track with it,but he seems to be very knowledgeable and willing to help me out if needed..
Can I get some pros and cons on the 2? Thanks in advance

They both seem to be quick, but I think the BD has a slight edge on carpet in the right hands.

The guys who have owned both say that the Xray can/has to be driven more aggressively to get the best from it, the BD is naturally more aggressive and has to be driven more carefully.

I still think the Xray is a more durable car.

I've owned t4's and BD5's. The yokomo is a beautiful car IMO but no where near as durable as the X-ray. The bd5 plastics were fairly fragile, maybe the BD7 plastics have improved... Not sure. IMO the T4 is the best TC X-ray has ever produced, i found them very capable on the track (spec and mod). Something else to consider is that the X-ray needs no special parts or upgrades to be competitive, it's all in the box. Once again JMO.

You can never go wrong with a Xray. Very strong, second to none quality and it is a extremely capable car.

I've had both cars and currently run a T4. I can tell you with out a doubt the BD7 is not beginner friendly and is defiantly a weaker car. It is a very nice car though.

I've owned both. The t4 is a calmer car and substantially more durable. The bd7 is said to be better on asphalt than the t4. Both are great cars, but I prefer my t4 overall.

I have xray parts on my photon and those weren't the parts that broke, that being said durability is definitely a plus and also what I'm looking for

In the beginning of horshams season I saw a lot of photons and now it's over and there's a lot more t4's

I also like the photon ex and have a photon right now and that's the only thing I don't like, if I'm going to buy xray parts and modify them to fit why not just have the car

The T4 is a superb asphalt car as well.

Both cars are really fast, however the XRAY is a much less temperamental car. Yokomo cars require more maintenance in the 2 areas that are the biggest pain in the arse. Diffs and shocks. Xray shocks, while they seem to need fresh oil every 2 to 3 race meets (with AE I would go months in between) don't leak like the Yokomo shocks. Sure there are tricks to make the Yokomo shocks better, but the XRAY shocks will be good with the standard parts.

The Yokomo diffs are pretty good if built right, but again, they leak if not perfect. The XRAY diffs are probably the industry std as far as quality and durability.

If you don't mid the maintenance, then you still have to deal with a car that is a bit more fragile when you go Yokomo.

For me, the XRAY offers much better value out of the box and would be the "wiser, more valuable choice".

The yokomo shocks are smoother but I had to rebuild them every 2-3 runs not races. The diff leaked out of the outdrive holes until I put Kyosho o rings in them and then was fine. The bd7 was great when it was on, but took a lot of maintenance to keep it on. The x ray is always on and requires no maintenance in comparison. I've never run either car on asphalt, well I've never actually run anything on asphalt. The setup window on the bd7 is HUGE though.

No brainer - Xray T4, for the reliability & durability advantages that have been discussed above.

That's really what it came down to for me. I wasn't faster with the bd7 and it was more work so why run it? It's also cheaper to run the x ray as I really have no real worries about breaking parts like I did on the bd7. X ray really did everything right on the t4 and I have no regrets about switching.
