To be fair, I think temps will not be an issue while the left half of your car litters the straight, but good to be prepared.

For mod would having a stiffer chassis be the way to go or more flexable? Also what about a top plate? Does anyone use the Exotek chassis?

Everyone should know the only thing broken (well not even broken) ended up being a spur gear. In my excitement to get out and play I didn't double check the mesh and chewed one up! Quick fix was to smash the motor into it and run at low rpm to create new "teeth" and go out and run it some more

I ran between setting 3 and 6 on that speedo with the v4.0 software with a Reedy 5.0 when I ran it indoors on carpet. I think I like a little more drag brake than most though.

You'll want to know which it has because there is a big difference between the settings from one to the other. If you have the 4.0 software you will only have 0-6 on the boost setting and that is the version you want. if you have v1.5 then boost will go from 0-10 and you should consider putting 4.0 on it.

The old board will step up the voltage to 6v when running 1s the new one will not thats the only way I know of telling the diffrence.

If you have the old board id recomend sending it in to get it replaced the bec goes bad in the old board quick and its a free upgrade.

Does brands of motor matter in mod? (onroad asphalt)
is 64 pitch or 48 pitch common in asphalt mod?

Definitely! All the brands have a different feel. Some are more smooth, others have a more aggressive powerband.

Ok, that changes my search for motor. So how do you find a smooth feel motor vs. edgy motor?

I'd say besides LRP motors most all them are pretty smooth. The reedy motors are a popular choice, kind of a happy medium.

I am in the same situation .

I started racing stock TC in Sept and then Mod TC with a boosted 10.5 in December . So I am a relative noob still I guess . I was thinking about trying a 5.5 this fall when onroad gets going again around here , but am not sure what I should be looking at buying . Any recommendations for me ?
