I'm interested to try, but I thought next weekend will be BRCA Clubman so 17.5 blinky + 13.5 boosted. A couple months ago I got the new big BD for the mod motors, and recently sold all my hobbywing stuff. So 4xBD only now, no other brands.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. If a little flatter at the bottom the 8T might well be a good choice of motor for me. I guess I'm happiest with smooth low end, strong midrange and reasonable top. Do you recommend the GM4.5? There is a new Race version coming soon. Also the LRP X20 4.5 is getting good reviews.

Really liking the boosted 6.5 for a 96x42 indoor carpet track. I almost feel like I'm not a complete nub out there.

After running my sedan with a 4.5 for the last week or so I'm finally getting a little bit of the hang of it. Adding timing and turbo really helped.

It doesn't have the crazy low end anymore.

hanam yeah 8t could be good for you. I will probably run one in my wet car this year. I ran the GM 4.5 for the last 3 years (only worlds last year!!) so yeah, good motors. I haven't tested the 4.5 race, as you said they are not available yet.

Cheers, GM 4.5T goes onto the shopping list also. I've got a reasonable collection of rotors for the 2010-2012 motors, it looks like these could have a significant impact in getting the desired power delivery. My 2009 8T had a red rotor, 1660 gauss but the 2010 vented 8T has a blue, around 1500 gauss. Should imagine this will change things quite a bit.

Yeah, I have only ever run red in the 8t, but a few times (inc worlds last year) run blue in the 4.5.

The "Race" 5.5's are looking good as well at the moment, I need to test one at some point in the near future.

Does only charging your packs to 8.30 sound crazy? I find the rip up front a little bit unsettling sometimes. The car seems much easier to drive after a minute or so.

Try it out, it might just be when you really start to focus after driving.

I have been running an older Reedy pack that simply does not rip as hard as it used to and it really smoothed out the feel over the entire run. Anyway I bet charging them to a lower voltage will make the car easier to drive up front.

Just an update that I am going to be trying out a new Reedy Mach2 6.0 tomorrow and I will report back on the feel vs. my Reedy 5.5. I am gonna start my gearing at 8.48... Should be interesting.

Problem with charging to 8.3V is the packs wont be balanced properly, you're then going to push them a bit harder because you're running Mod.

Can't you go down a profile or two on the ESC instead of changing charging routines?

Some guys gear up (lower ratio) and boost down to make it easier to drive...

Gearing up can also take heat out of the ESC, in my experience in running mod the switching speed at high rpm is the cause of a lot of the speed control heat, and gearing up lowers the switching speed but will cause a little more motor heat.

Speaking of motor heat, every mod I own stays stone cold, no matter the gearing (within reason). All of my spec motors get HOT when run to their full potential, my LRP 17.5 gets to 170 through two fans in a six minute race, any less gear or timing and the car is a complete dog. Since the move to blinky brushless, I've seen people smoke a lot of spec motors, never a modified though.
