Default Outlaw Spec Classes...?

During the whole D3.5 debacle (well I guess it's still a mess), I heard that some clubs were still going to allow people to run the D3.5. So today I see that Novak is releasing an "outlaw" spec motor which I assume is meant to compete with the D3.5. My question is do we need or want this? And if people and clubs gravitate to outlaw spec classes what does that signify for ROAR?

"Outlaw Spec"? surely a contradiction

and utterly pointless.

I was somewhat surprised to see Novak market the motor that way...

The D3.5 was built to pass the approval process as it was a year ago. It passed that test (barely) and was approved. They pushed the limits, but it it was within the limits enough to pass until ROAR changed their method of measuring.

Novak have straight up made a cheater stator. They might as well be putting 17.5 stickers on 10.5 stators. Once you are cheating, the degree you do it at is irrelevant. Cheating is cheating

One motor is “Vulcan Spec” and the other version is “Vulcan outlaw”. You would think they would have just release only the Vulcan Spec, but they might be catering to the speed freak basher for the Outlaw version.

We have acouple of "big" races coming up that allow "Open 17.5, Open ESC".

Personally I wont spend my $$ on buying a cheater motor.

You'd think if it was meant for a basher, a basher would just throw in a lower wind motor to go faster. Most bashers don't really think about stators and wire size....they just care about slow, fast and faster. Also Novak press release mentions outlaw racing...and these are only available in spec motor winds.

But what might be interesting is to see if the 17.5 outlaw was as fast as boosted 17.5. Then "open" 17.5 would have a new meaning...

If you can't do it with your ESC do it with your motor?

Default Sick of Spec..

Racing mod looks better and better at this point and will most likely be less money at the end of the day.

Nothing makes Nitro look more attractive. Worst RC's ever.

Loud, smelly, dirty, and not any faster.
